Still have to wonder about the home ice advantage under these circumstances. Some analyses have shown that much of the advantage is because (consciously or not) the refs shade borderline calls in the direction of the home team. The home crowd will not be in play in these "no fans allowed" games.

River Falls beats Gustavus 4-1.

The first round games end up bringing together pairs of teams who know each other well.

River Falls and Eau Claire meet for a deciding Game 5 in their season series. Eau Claire won the first two but the Falcons won the previous two matchups. This is the sixth time if you want to acknowledge the preseason exhibition.

Plattsburgh comes into the game 2-0 on the season series having outscored the Cadets 9-4 in the two games. That said, it's tough to beat a good team three times in a season.

If the NCAA cancels the tournament, would they name a national championship based on the regular season? Or leave the title vacant?

My guess is they'd leave the title vacant... imagine Norwich on the men's side: 9 straight shut-outs, but they lose the National title by miniscule amount to a Utica team they never played!

The optimist in me reports that Plattsburgh is offering up their HD feed for free for this weekend's game... (as of yesterday)

Vacant.

The rules are very specific on how a national champion is named. And there is no means now to change the rules.

This sucks beyond belief. ******* at Duke, Kansas, Harvard and Yale were the tipping point.
