I don't know of any hockey teams at any level that are taught to "slice through the middle" of the neutral zone. That typically is not a pathway to successful offensive zone entry. But hey maybe you're onto something new....take the puck straight through the heart of the ice, sort of a go where the defending team least expects it approach, even though most of their 5 skaters will probably be somewhere in between the dots. Good strategy!
Based on 4 years ago, we have Canada right where we want them.
Combined score last three games: 2-7.Are we bad now

"Great moments are born from great opportunity, and that's what you have here tonight, ladies. That's what you've earned here tonight. One game; if we played them ten times, they might win nine. But not this game, not tonight. Tonight, we skate with them. Tonight we stay with them, and we shut them down because we can. Tonight, we are the greatest hockey team in the world.
You were born to be hockey players—every one of you, and you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team the Canadians have. Screw 'em. This is your time. Now go out there and take it!"
Should we be seeing more out of Dugan? I didn’t follow her college career and she was in on a couple nice offensive rushes last night, but I don’t notice her to the extent I notice Canada’s leaders. Might just be I am not watching for her the way I do Canada’s people.
I’m wondering if Finland or someone else will sneak into the gold medal game. That would be an interesting plot twist.

The Americans, I believe. Now we go from playing on 200x85 to 200x100. The advantage goes to???
In theory, I agree with everything that you've said. However, having watched some of the games, the U.S. defensemen are having enough problems trying to defend 85 feet of width. I'm afraid they'll be exposed to an even greater extent on an Olympic sheet. The Americans, I believe.
... But you would expect the wider ice surface to open things up, and overall it should become more a more wide open, fast-paced game which should help the U.S.
Maybe you don't see much UW hockey then.....

I'm having a hard time remembering the last time W played the Canadian Olympic team. Go up the middle a lot, did they?
