2018 Pro-Signings

Re: 2018 Pro-Signings

It's an ELC. I'm not sure if that means he'll start at the AHL or the ECHL. That said, if you read the comments, Oiler fans didn't take the signing very well...

Entry Level Contract, would be shocked if he didn't start in the AHL. I went over to the Edmonton Oilers subreddit and many fans seemed to think it was a ploy to lure his brother there from Detroit. Hope Larkin can find success in the pros and who knows, maybe he will surpass his expectations like his older brother.

Not shocking at all. Will play for Bakersfield this season and have a roster spot shot at training camp next season just like every other entry level contract. Prototype Centerman and the best Free agent in college hockey this season.

As. with all ELCs, it is a 2 way contract - he makes $70,000 per year in the minors, and about 10 times that amount in the NHL. His pay is prorated on a daily basis. It doesn't cost Edmonton much of anything to sign him and does not affect the salary cap at all. I have no idea what their fans are crying about.

They're Edmonton fans. Doesn't that answer your question?
