2018-19 National D1 Polls

Re: 2018-19 National D1 Polls

Clarkson returns 355 pts, 144 goals. BC must return 755 pts and 322 goals with that Whats player coming back.

Re: 2018-19 National D1 Polls

I know this is in no way indicative of if a team will win a National Championship but does anyone know off hand if a freshman goalie has won a National Championship? Maybe Rigsby?

Rigsby did. Vetter did. Harss wasn't techinically a freshman, but she was in her first season. Sautter might have been the same deal.

Re: 2018-19 National D1 Polls

In this model, what is the proper verdict on a team that finishes exactly where predicted? E.g., say No. 5 Colgate finishes 5th -- should one have bought or sold?
Same thing as if you bet on Minnesota -7 in a football game and they win by exactly 7. It's a push. Should you have bet on Minnesota or their opponent? Doesn't matter.

Selling UW due to Kepler being gone, haha. UW loses Kepler, but gains Pankowski, Clark, Curl and Shirley. That's a plus 50 goals right there.

It's a numbers game. If I've got four teams that I'm reasonably confident are 1-4 in some order, I'm pretty sure I'll make money buying 3 & 4 and selling 1 & 2, you know?

Also I didn't realize Wisconsin gets to keep Rolfes. Eff that

Sell BC, UM and CLarky and buy buy buy UW if you want to get loaded.

That's nothing compared to what Clarkson lucked into this offseason. UW fans knew it was probable Rolfes would get the RS year when she was injured and lost most of that season. At least she didn't retire and then by a sudden miracle come back unless that team's fans knew all along that it was probable she was coming back like Rolfes did.

I was under the impression you believed in miracles.;)

She retired because “they” (the conventional wisdom, which is nearly always wrong) said she had an ailment for which there was no cure. Once she followed the unconventional wisdom and was cured she unretired, lots of people do it. Last I checked retirement is not like dying, you can un-retire if you desire.

Anybody familiar with the situation knew that Rolfes was going to get a redshirt, no surprise there. But it is a surprise that Clarkson gained two players from other teams. I guess with no post college career option other than to play for peanuts or wait four years for the slim possibility of making the Olympic team, and then a fifty/fifty chance of a gold medal or the booby prize in the one game that matters, the high point of any female players career is a shot at an NCAA title. This certainly seems to be the case, the Big Four once again got the cream of the crop making them stronger and separated themselves from the pack ( at least from the pre-season view) , last year it only appeared the pack had closed the gap, being it was an Olympic year.
