2017 NCAA Women's Frozen Four

Re: 2017 NCAA Women's Frozen Four

Instead of begging people to buy tickets, tmitchell, why don't you entice more people to make the trip by telling us what St. Charles is doing to roll out the red carpet for Women's Hockey fans? What should fans look forward to around the arena before and after the games?

You are right! Downtown St. Charles has plenty to offer and over 150 restaurants to choose from, check out this website for more information on historic St. Charles and what it has to offer! http://www.historicstcharles.com/

Often as not, the hot dogs (Cher-make) taste like they took uncooked, precooked dogs, shoved them in a bun, stuck the combo in a steam table and waited for the unsuspecting customer to come along. Last year, it was the same for the brats; Johnsonville precooked.

At least you can wash them down with a tasty Royal Crown Cola. For a special treat, you even buy that RC Cola in a $4 bottle that's likely to be flat and semi-frozen. Yum!

Yes, but are any of them actually doing anything to welcome Frozen Four visitors? Will they even know the event is going on? Are any of those 150 restaurants within walking distance of the arena?

Passing along information like that is going to do far more to make a great event than spamming the board with ticket sales pitches.

Guys does it seriously bother you that this guy is doing everything he can think of to try and fill seats? Geez.

I'm going to do my part in helping this guy out.

The best thing about St. Charles is that it is on the other side of the Missouri River from St. Louis. And for those flying in, or driving from MN, you won't have to go thru St. Louis to get there.

Not at all, I just would like to see him do something to actually encourage people to come to the event, like telling us what they are doing to welcome people and make it a fun time for those who are considering making the trip.

Just saying "buy your tickets now" over and over - which is the definition of spamming - doesn't do anything to fill seats.

All true but on a more serious note, having been there with the wife I can say that the St Charles historic district is worth the visit. Shopping and dining options are plentiful. You are also close to the Casino if that is more your style as well.

TMitchell had this link way back in post #38 which I will repost. Great information on St Charles for those asking

Speaking only for myself, I'm not bothered. :)

The one "criticism" I'd offer is that it's pretty clear that tmitchell's position requires him to be strictly neutral on the question of how the various hotels and restaurants rate. That's the kind of consumer-oriented information that would be the most helpful. Which places are to be avoided? Which are can't miss? And so on. At the same time, I can understand why the terms of his employment preclude this.

To the extent there's a problem, it's NOT the guy who's shown up many times -- and put a lot of time & energy into the thread. It's the lack of recommendations from local fans.

Hey Lindenwood! When you have people coming in from out of town, where do you have them stay? Where do you take them to eat? To celebrate? The podium is available; step right up!

!

I am here working an internship and not from this area, so I am not too familiar with the surrounding restaurants and hotels. I will try to do some more digging and find out some of the good spots!

The two places that you may want to visit are main street in downtown St. Charles, and also "Streets of St. Charles" that has lots of new restaurants and also a movie theatre, here is a link to their website: http://www.thestreetsofstcharles.com/

Also, there are two casinos very close to the Family Arena.
