Massive playoff collapse. Cliched, but you heard it hear first.

I'll double down. LAD will surge.

-12 now for the Dodgers?

If they make the playoffs, they will be IN the WS. I won't say win it, but they will be in it. They really haven't had a slump all season. Bad timing is what I chalk it up to.

I'm actually impressed the Twins are only 13.5 back of Cleveland. Not nearly as impressed as I am by Cleveland's run, but impressed nonetheless.

Re: 2017 MLB Season - The Goat Memorial Thread

I don't think they'll make it, but the streak would be 31 as the Twins come to town for a series.

That would be a lot of fun. The Twins could end this streak like they did to the A's back in 2002.

I was looking at the 1916 NY Giants who have the record of 26 "wins" in a row.* The Giants also had a 17 game winning streak earlier in the season. What's crazy? The Giants still finished in FOURTH place in the National League...seven games behind the Brooklyn Robins (now the Dodgers). Half of the Giants 86 wins came during 2 long streaks. Outside of those streaks, they were 43-66.

*The Giants actually played 27 games in their 26 game winning streak, but one of the games was a tie, which were not recorded as official games.

Games 124-150.

Just look at those game times.

8.5 doubleheaders (the second game of the 9th DH broke the streak).

29 wins in the month of September (34 games).

Only one extra inning game.

THE ENTIRE STREAK WAS AT HOME!

They went from 14 to 5 GB, and were still barely alive.

It's crazy how different it was 100 years ago. The Giants 17 game winning streak earlier in the season was entirely on the road. They went 19-2 on that 21 game road trip...not too shabby. Of course, they still couldn't crack the Top 3 in the National League...something that still boggles me.

Brewers-Marlins series for this weekend, originally scheduled for Miami, has been moved to Milwaukee.

My original travel plan was to go to Miami on Friday for my 30th ballpark. But, I decided that was a little too close to heavy hurricane season, and went to Miami in late July instead.

In the same timespan the Indians went from 69-56 to 90-56 and the Dodgers went from 89-36 to 93-52.

Indians just 3.5 back of the BRIB.
