Re: 2017 MLB Season - The Goat Memorial Thread

Did Gary Bettman take over MLB?

Interest in the WBC seems low to begin with, but the US has made it to the Final.

Let's put it on ESPN, but in Spanish to show our respect for diversity!!!

Or to try and rope people into adding MLB Network to their TV package.

That got old quick. At first I had it on but muted. Now I'm watching Ducks/Oilers.

Press 1 for English

And no, MLB Network is not part of my sports tier.

Re: 2017 MLB Season - The Goat Memorial Thread

I think MLBN is pretty standard on any of the "expanded" cable packages.

And ESPN has nothing to do with diversity, it's because they hold the Spanish language rights.

But it's been good baseball all month. Feel bad for everyone who ignored it.

Stroman with a no hitter though 6.

The only people I've seen give more than a fart about the WBC are Latinos. It probably boosted ratings.

Re: 2017 MLB Season - The Goat Memorial Thread

If you want to see the ignorant side of America, search "espn Spanish" on twitter and get a look at everyone who doesn't understand broadcast rights, can't read a bottom line telling them the game is in English on MLBN, and thinks it's somehow beneath them to have Spanish spoken on their TV.

Re: 2017 MLB Season - The Goat Memorial Thread

Last night's game was the 2nd most watched game on MLBN with 2.3 million viewers, only behind last year's NLDS game two of Cubs-Giants.

Viewership increased 32% from the last WBC.

Is MLBN carried anywhere outside the US? If so I'd be interested to see the US / Foreign breakdown.

Jung Ho Kang denied Visa, will not play in the US. Trump is even wrecking baseball 😧

Happy Opening Day!

I wonder what Vin Scully is up to today.

Re: 2017 MLB Season - The Goat Memorial Thread

ESPN is doing umpire scouting this year. Nothing with actual numbers (so far), just generalizations like "calls inside corner more on lefties than average."

And the Padres are well on their way to 0-162. Grand Slam for LA in the 3rd to make it 5-1.

Re: 2017 MLB Season - The Goat Memorial Thread

Isn't the entire roster making less than Kershaw? Sounds like they're worth every penny.

34 million. SD is actually paying 68 million this year, but half is going to players no longer on the team.

And their three way pitcher/catcher/outfielder in Betancourt started out with two wild pitches scoring two and was cleated by Puig.
