Re: 2017 MLB Season - The Goat Memorial Thread

Red Sox fans breathing a tentative sigh of relief that their $217 million dollar pitcher David Price doesn't need Tommy John surgery. I'm still thinking it's going to happen later in the season. Because I'm a pessimist.

That's why I said single rant. OVERALL, Earl rules all. Not even close. For a single, one-off rant......Lee Elia and Uncle Jerry are up there.

And don't bring up Manager's Corner. Probably knew about that before you were a gleam in your daddy's eye, so to speak. ;)

I remember one game Weaver walked out to the mound and stood there with his back to the HP umpire, his arms folded not saying a word to the pitcher just waiting for the ump to came out and break it up. As soon as the ump said something Weaver spun around and flew into a rage. One of his better 'shows' I might add.

am I alone in not even being a little interested in the WBC? I didn't watch any of it last time, either. Not sure why.

I don't care either. It's glorified pre-season games.

Why would you have? It's about as interesting as watching the Pro Bowl.

Wonder how this ends??

@AnthonyDiComo: Tim Tebow is going to start Wednesday's game against the Red Sox at designated hitter. He'll face reigning AL Cy Young Rick Porcello. #Mets

I'll watch because it's baseball, this is the reason it's not bigger overall. The over protection of players makes it hard to get really into it. Some of the top guys don't play, Cuba doesn't allow defectors to come back, 65 pitch limit in the first round.

Korea all but eliminated after losing to the Netherlands. Need to hope for a three way tie at 1-2 and win the run ratio tiebreaker.

Re: 2017 MLB Season - The Goat Memorial Thread

The most amazing thing about the Tebow story is that it's not the first time a reigning Cy Young award winner has faced a Heisman Trophy winner.

Per the Mets announcers, Frank Viola faced Bo Jackson in 1989. Except that game actually counted because Bo was good enough to play in a real game.

In WBC action, Israel and the Netherlands are move on to Pool E in Tokyo. Korea and Taiwan are eliminated. Japan has essentially moved on to Pool E, also.

Huh. That is actually pretty interesting.

Apparently they actually pulled in a metric sh-t ton of money from Florida redneck losers for that appearance both in boosted attendance and merc. Hey, Deplorable money is as green as any other. Milk those rubes dry*.

* Actually, the motto of every professional sports franchise, ever.
