2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season: Non-Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Re: 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season: Non-Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Kep, where did you post that red/blue map and the hurricane path? I can't find it. Was hoping to show someone.

That eyewall is clearing out, and Harvey is still picking up strength. Say goodnight, Rockport.

The bowl game you don't want to be sent to:

Reminds me a little of a slower motion Charley in 2004. Blew up from a 1 to just under a Cat 5 in about 3 hours off the West coast of Florida before making an unexpected right turn into Charlotte Harbor just north of Captiva. People that were willing to ride out a Cat 1 were too late to get out by the time it grew into a monster. Hopefully there has been enough time here for those types of folks to realize this is going to be a bad one and get out.

Good luck 1015, stay safe!

Saw on Facebook that some are going to ride it out.

This is going to be historic flooding around Houston. Some places saw 14" in 3 hours earlier tonight.

Just had one of our worst squalls roll through so far. 55+ winds, sideways rain. Going to be a few interesting days.

No IAH operations for us until noon Monday...which I think is being optimistic.

All those people that were relocated from New Orleans to Houston after Katrina, get to relive this sh*t all over again.

I wonder what IAH looks like.

I heard stories of rescue boats getting their motors hung up on the roofs of SUVs hidden under the water.

One report had a motor hitting the roof of a house. Wife's cousin lives in Cypress. She tweeted Harris County has received 650 billion gallons of rain.. Just sent us unbelievable photos of 17' of water burying a freeway

I'd agree with that.

I'm hesitant to go as far as saying Houston could experience Katrina level flooding, but things are getting bad all through the metro area, and more is coming.

This is due mostly to rain. Katrina flooding was mostly storm surge from the Gulf. This is being called a thousand year storm.
