2016 World Junior Championship

Re: 2016 World Junior Championship

USA plays Russia 1 pm ET on Monday. Sweden vs. Finland at 9am ET Monday. Looks like the final is at 1:30 ET Tuesday and Bronze medal game at 9am ET Tuesday.

Re: 2016 World Junior Championship

Getting a bowl of popcorn and going straight to the TSN comments section. :)

There were zero comments under the TSN story for the USA win, just had to add my own. They are burning down the house with 700 comments under the Canada story.

Re: 2016 World Junior Championship

BTW I'm really glad USA Hockey is developing these high level players that the NHL won't let play at the Olympics in two years...

Re: 2016 World Junior Championship

SO....before we get too overconfident....the Czech team was dead. They may as well have stayed home. If you watched the Canada/Finland game, they were flying up and down the ice. An unbelievable game. We don't want to have to play Finland in their home rink in front of their fans. From what I saw, the USA is methodical and efficient, but the Finns play with more speed (I won't say "skill" but almost) and they certainly have more firepower. When the USA plays a team that can skate and check with them, they're not getting seven goals. But Finland scored six against a Canada team that we were life and death with. I'm thinking we match up better with Sweden (even though we lost to them, we outplayed them and seemed to be able to "control" them).

We have to play the Putins first.

BTW - Canada finished 6th. We will be in the same group with them if we get a silver or bronze medal.

BTW - Canada finished 6th.

How is this determined? Is it just based on the seedings prior to the quarters of the four teams that lost today? The higher seeds all one today, correct? Canada was third in their group, Czech was third in the other group. The two fourth seeds (Denmark and Slovakia) also lost. So how do they determine 5h through 8th place. Seems reasonable that the third seeds would be 5th and 6th, the fourth seeds 7th and 8th, but with no common opponents in the preliminary round, how do they choose 5th over 6th?

I believe the seedings for next year are based on Canada's final point standing in the preliminary round combining both groups, which is sixth with 5 points

That Finland-Canada game was hockey porn. It's going to be hard to top.

Just watched it on the DVR - great game.

Too bad NHL network decided to prune it due to "time restrictions" so we could see another lame pre-game/highlights show:rolleyes:.

Re: 2016 World Junior Championship

Can't find any livestream link on the NHL network site. If I remember correctly, the livestream links were not posted until gameday previously, correct? I have to travel Monday and will be stuck streaming, so help me out boys and girls!

The guy who is doing it is not sure how long he will due to the fact he had 20k people watching Canada Finland Saturday. Theres supposed to be another youtube stream coming on soon.

The u stream link worked for me all of group stages, would expect it will continue to work, though the guy who was controlling it would flip back and forth between games (sometimes frustrating, but shouldnt be a problem today).
