This started out as an opinion piece from Joe but we got some more sourcing -- it sounds like this may be happening and very nearly happened this year:

One more incentive for the MTA to run the subways on a daily basis in February!

One of my more indelible men's Beanpot memories is of returning from the Garden on the Red Line with a number of Band members. Playing. Inside the subway car. Oh my.
