I don't know where you guys are hearing that Western and Miami are happy in the NCHC, I have heard the exact opposite
We also heard that St Cloud was happy and committed to being a part of the WCHA.

I know the in state and NSIC stuff should be a rivalry with BSU, I just don't feel it though. Not realistic to protect either series, but I'd love to see FSU and MTU in Mankato every year.Okay, so let's talk 24-game schedules. 2017-18 is the perfect time to discuss them, as the four-year cycle is complete after this season.
Let's work with these parameters:
1. 10-team league.
2. Rivalry games are 4 games HTH.
You can set it up like this:
Four rivalry games (two home, two away) with the current rivalry pairings (UAH-BG, UAA-UAF, MSU-BSU, FSU-LSSU, MTU-NMU)
20 other games against the other eight teams
I'm trying to come up with a way to do this that keeps you from having to go to Alaska twice in a season. Doing a true minimax on the problem leads to an unbalanced rotation, and I don't think that anyone wants that. I'll keep plugging away at this.

I am shocked at how little respect Ferris State is getting in any of the Tournament analysis. I am not predicting this will happen but would not be one bit surprised if Ferris beats St. Cloud tomorrow. I'm betting on a very tight game.
Looking past any opponent can be deadly this time of year.
I'm sorry to report this but I just saw on the Facebook group that Butch Mousseau has passed away. Such a tragedy and really makes you think.

Let's go to divisions right now with the teams we have.
North (or West): Fairbanks, Bemidji, Mankato, Tech, Northern
South (or East): Anchorage, Huntsville, Bowling Green, Ferris, Lake
You play everyone in your division four time and the other division twice. 26 game conference schedule with 10 non-conference games available. Everyone would go to Alaska at least once a year. The only problem with this set up is your home and away conference games would not be equal (14-12).
Or you could set up a designated rival from the other division, play them four times every year and have 28 conference games with 8 non-conference games available. Fairbanks-Anchorage, Bemidji-Huntsville, Mankato-Tech-Northern paired somehow with Bowling Green-Ferris-Lake.
I'm so sorry to hear of the Mosseaus' loss. No kind words fill the chasm of such a loss.
IIRC, you can't do divisions without having 12 teams in your conference. That was a rule a dozen years ago, but shoot, six years ago you could have a four-team nothing conference get an AQ (and two teams in the field, heh).
And true2BSU — I am glad to be in a league with your dirty rodents.

Why does everybody put the former WCHA schools with Fairbanks and the CCHA schools with UAA? No thank you, we'll continue playing Bemidji, Mankato, and Tech.

And I am perfectly okay with setting up as scheduling pods instead of divisions. Just another option of cutting down on travel somewhat that deals with what we have currently versus adding teams.
Well, so much for that.Just reviewed the brackets, looks like St. Cloud over Providence in the title game.
Now for those looking to drop to 24 or 26 conference games, is there any way you can see WCHA teams getting at least half of those additional games at home without having to fly east? Schools are having a hard enough time getting home NC games as it is.
