2016 WCHA Offseason; It's All Over, Save Ferris

Re: 2016 WCHA Offseason; It's All Over, Save Ferris

Jesus H. Christ, you are such a perfect Republican troll. :p

There is definitely a clear argument to be made in favor of having 1-2 neutral individuals in charge of league scheduling. If it's so easy to get 10 schools to agree to various scheduling demands, I propose you apply for the job and prove you can do it better.

As for some sort of "Board of Directors" running the league, with a rotating chair...I'm willing to hear the argument for how that would work vs. paying a formal Comminionser. What is your logic there?

For all disputes, majority vote wins. Chair's vote counts for 2. Rotate chair every year by objective random selection until everyone gets a turn then start over. Oh my god that was so hard.

I got a better job than that would be, it's not worth my time.

My point is why worry about how much money the WCHA has? I sure as heck don't, and you'd be dumb to. It's never that easy to simply say don't worry but if you put in proof why you shouldn't then that's a good thing.

WCHA can get all the money it needs whenever it needs it, even if it has to dissolve and restart under a new name like the FadeToBlack&Gold conference.

If there was a children's charity hospital running out of money then I'd worry about that. That matters. There are heartless people that don't care about things that matter like helping young poor people, but this isn't one of them!!

Worrying about pointless administration of non charities is exactly the brainwashing the Democrats do. It drains money from actually helping people that need it. You think the UK won't be ok without the EU? It'll be just fine. Was the US ok after it seceded from Britain? It got better. Trump knows how to Make America Great Again, just like Farage knew how to Make England Great Again.

Fair enough. I could do without the blatant condescension in that last line, but looking at my previous post, I guess turnabout is fair play. I'll try to tone it down in this post.

And therein lies the problem - that's easy for you and I to say, because we're comfortably paid the medium bucks and can make these sorts of armchair pronunciations. You think scheduling is so easy that a caveman could do it, because you've never had to do the job. To you, it just seems like a simple task that you can push off to some peon in each member school's athletic department each year, and it'll all work out fine. Do you know that most team's OOC schedules are set 2-3 years in advance, and that the person in charge of scheduling has to address and work around those schedules for all 10 teams? Do you see any obvious conflict of interest or roadblock in having your appointed person in charge of scheduling from each school going back and forth on conference calls with the other persons in charge of scheduling from the other schools? Especially when D2 athletic departments are regularly going through turnover.

First off, I'll credit you for not reflexively calling it the FadeToMarx&Lenin conference. Believe me, I was not a Bernie Bro, and Hillary makes me throw up in my mouth. :)

Sure, you can argue that we shouldn't worry about the WCHA's bank account and cash flow - but if we hope to be taken seriously as a conference, we should. D1 conferences are in business to make money - that is the reality now. It's the core reason why the B1G happened - they built it into their contract that when at least six member schools play a particular sport, they must compete as the B1G brand. There are now two hockey conferences in the west that do make money, even if the NCHC's cut is significantly less than the B1G's. Why wouldn't Mankato try to make the move? It makes perfect geographic sense. This should concern the WCHA - given the chance, why should anyone stick with a conference that not only has no payout (or a very small one, if anything), but is actually bleeding money from the aorta?

Drumpf knows how to Make Donald Drumpf Again

He sure does :p

How about this as another way of looking at things. There are times that cities go bankrupt and people panic. But the businesses and people in the cities still have money. So when cities go bankrupt they can still get money because they can tax for what is critically needed.

Same for a college hockey league. Never a reason to panic or be concerned. The budget of one team alone for 1-2 yrs exceeds what WCHA has even in their best times. It's a petty cash fund for league operations.

If you start a new league the league starts with 0 dollars. And there is no concern.

Giving Nigel Farage any credit what so ever is a very big mistake. It's kind of like that guy from the Netherlands who started a political party of 1 and who now is going around speaking in the US.

But he won. It worked. UK Independence Party is what he started and they voted to leave the EU. And he pushed for that, as an EU MP representing the UK.

Well the latest rumor is Holy Cross (really?) potentially heading to Hockey East to replace Notre Dame.
I guess the WCHA might as well get their requests in to poach teams from AH now before AH dissolves.
Let the Eastern chaos begin...

yes temporarily but now he's been run out of town on a rail because people are recognizing what an idiot he is.

Re: 2016 WCHA Offseason; It's All Over, Save Ferris

You mean UK needs it's EU overlords to tell them what to do? They can't just be their own country? Sounds idiotic to me...
Not at all. The firing of Farage and his party members really had nothing to do with the EU, or the vote, more it had to do with them getting nothing done on the other issues they face, and embarrassing their constituents repeatedly by saying stupid things and getting laughed at on National TV.. He knew this and that's why he didn't run again.

They got done exactly what they intended to get done, to get the UK to vote to leave the EU, and they did.

Once this was over, Farage resigned as head of UKIP, his work was done successfully.

Re: 2016 WCHA Offseason; It's All Over, Save Ferris

Oh my god, go away. This is the WCHA thread not Brexit. I don't give a flying * about farage or the UK.
