2016 UMD Season Thread

Re: 2016 UMD Season Thread

No need to worry. UMD finished in 6th place last year in the WCHA with a 15-21 record. It still received top 10 votes before the season. In fact, I'm pretty sure that every WCHA team except Mankato received top 10 votes this season, even teams with .300 winning percentages. You should be good to go.

I'm sure Blackbeard appreciates EF1's sincerity and encouragement.

UMD caps off a great year with a "Coach Of The Year" award, congratulations!

well earned! From one side I am looking forward to more tense and exciting games for the WCHA in the next few years. Just have to adjust expectations for a couple more losses that will probably go alone with that. I'm truly happy that this has turned out well for the dogs.

Re: 2016 UMD Season Thread

how did they get a 4 for concessions?
food, at least compared to MN & WI is light years ahead

The sight lines at Labahn are better IMO for women's , and Mariucci for men's, but I don't disagree overall, Amsoil is a great place to watch hockey

The link to that site didn't work at first I just took a look at it. Can't comment on the concessions since I don't recall ever sampling the grub there other than a box of popcorn, I think.

But it is a very impressive lobby that sets the tone. (I mentioned this once before but the 2009-10 women's and men's team all signed a girder before it was installed in the ceiling of the Amsoil. When you walk through the lobby to your left straight to the rink area and look up it is in that corner of the building). Nice lounge overlooking the rink and lots of good restaurants close by.

A little surprised that The Ralph wasn't considered #1 but there were several factors considered.

I guess this is unofficially official...good news...this will help fill the production hole left by Stalder, Brykaliuk, McGovern, Morin and Crossman...

(She sure knows how to pick hockey arenas).

Rooney made the national team, what does UMD's goalie situation look like for next year?

All I know is that I have seen Johnson play once or twice and I thought that she looked quite competent. With more playing time and the coach's confidence in you this can sometimes turn into more than just competence.

UMD announcement of Rooney's selection to Team USA...

Congratulations to UMD recruit Naomi Rogge on being named Metro Player of the Year in girls' lacrosse.

“After 18 years of coaching lacrosse in Minnesota, I believe that Naomi Rogge is the most talented and skillful lacrosse player of all time,” said Judy Baxter, architect of the Eagles’ powerful program.
