Quinnipiac's recruiting class for next year has been announced

Karlis Cukste (D) - 2015 5th round pick of the San Jose Sharks
Brogan Rafferty (D)
Logan Mick (F)
Alex Whelan (F)
Nick Jermain (F) - Accelerating to this year. Originally was suppose to come in 2017
Andrew Shortridge (G)
Kevin Duane (F) - BU Transfer
Chris Truehl (G) - Air Force Transfer

Some quotes from Riga

In the old days Quinnipiac coaches making their pitch were often asked rather rudimentary questions. Which state is your school located? Are you Division I?

All that, of course, is ancient history. Four successive trips to the NCAA tournament and two appearances in the national championship game have done wonders for recruiting.

“It’s much easier to get them here for visits,” said Bill Riga, Quinnipiac’s assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. “In terms of pure bulk mail, kids emailing and calling looking to come here, it’s up five-fold over the last five years.”

Riga also has a plan in place should the Bobcats lose another player to the pros this summer – not expected but always a possibility after the NHL draft and prospect developmental camps.

Of the incoming recruits most likely to make an immediate impact.

Cukste and Rafferty on defense should see plenty of minutes
Transfers Chris Truehl and Kevin Duane should see alot of time as well.
Of the 3 forwards the most likely to contribute from day 1 is probably Nick Jermain considering he was accelerated 1 year.

That Logan Mick kid is pretty fast and always finds himself in scoring positions. He has been helping lead the Brooks Bandits to the Semis of the RBC Cup. I think this recruiting class might be on par with what we saw last year. Like MarkEagle said, IS IT OCTOBER YET!

If Logan Mick can stay healthy he might be able to help them this year. Injuries have been a major part of the last few years for him.

Recruit Peter Diliberatore was selected in the 4th round by Halifax in the QMJHL draft. He's slated to be at the Salisbury School this fall while recruit Ethan Philips will be attending Selects Academy at South Kent.

Travis St. Denis signed a contract with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders.

Guess he'll get to play with Devon Toews next season!

Anybody know the guy in the cape? I think you can point the cursor at him, click on it, and get a close up.

I hate the give-the-opposing-player-the-finger thing. So revolting. Grow up, dude in a cape.

But the player staring down the fan is classy? Not making an excuse for the kid but A. It's a college aged kid. and B. It's the National Championship. No need to send out the Pitch Forks and Torches for it.

I didn't post it to throw stones at the kid. Heaven knows we have enough in our own fan base who have done the same. Just thought given his apparent age that some Q posters around here might know him and get a kick out of the picture.

Is he staring down our fan, or celebrating with his fan?

Either way, it doesn't really matter. These guys are competing, I have no problem with the players doing that. Staring someone down isn't giving the middle finger. It's not a huge deal, it's just annoying.

The next big app should be a way for our internet text to have tone so that we all know what direction comments are coming from. I was reading that as someone trying to throw shade. My bad.

No, I should have clarified that in my first post.

I love hockey photos like those where you can see the reaction of the crowd in the background. That was just one of a bunch taken by the Grand Forks Herald photog during the Frozen Four, and I thought it would be fun if someone who posts here recognized himself or herself.
