2016 NCAA Tournament Thread

Re: 2016 NCAA Tournament Thread

If for some reason Norwich was pulled in as a ranked team their games against these ranked teams would be as follows
UMB 1-1-0
Babson 1-2-0
Trinity 0-1-0
Plattsburgh 1-1-0

I don't think Plattsburgh deserves a bid after their effort tonight.... Can't remember the last time they were manhandled that badly (RIT in 2001?)
In 2001:
RIT beat the Cards 8-2 at home. Cards returned the favor by beating RIT in their rink for the NCAA championship!

Yes, I know, but I don't think they get the chance to redeem themselves this time.

Re: 2016 NCAA Tournament Thread

Stevens Point hosts Augsburg in a first round game with the winner headed to SNC for a quarterfinal.

Adrian hosts Geneseo in another QF.

Plattsburgh, Williams, and Babson to vie for the final Pool C (assuming Trinity wins today.)

Adrian and SNC on opposite sides of the bracket as the tourneys #1 and #2 overall seeds.

I admit that I do not and will not ever understand the D3 NCAA selections and draws but how about Point to Adrian and Augsburg to SNC in Quarters?

Yes, sure that works too. However, I think they may be reluctant to give Augsburg a pass to the QF round...

That would also make it look like the west was seeded #1 SNC, #2 Adrian, #3 Point, and #4 Augsburg. They can avoid that whole deal by having Adrian host a QF against an Eastern school.

Re: 2016 NCAA Tournament Thread

What time are the selection shows? Is it still men at 10:00 and women at 10:30?

women 10:00 a.m. ...men 10:30 a.m.

and to avoid SOMEONE getting their knickers in a bunch about me posting in this thread, this will be my last post in it.

Re: 2016 NCAA Tournament Thread

Based on what, exactly?

That was NOT what I intended to post. That was NOT what I typed into my phone. And no, I was not intoxicated at the time.

What I was trying to say was "I still think they're sending UWSP to Adrian for a QF". And somehow, we wound up with.....that.

That's me, and I'm not ashamed about it.

But thank you for posting the times. Digging through the ncaa web site can be an exercise in extreme patience.

Who will be the top ranked Eastern Team that is not an AQ holder?
Plattsburgh
Williams
Babson
loser of Amherst/Trinity

Back it with numbers used in the selection, not feelings.

Yes you are correct ........... and DePere is 437, Steven Point 475, Plattsburgh 641, Hobart 598, Hartford 702, Geneseo 395, Salem 812, Minneapolis 646. Someone has to travel in the quarterfinals to play the #1 team. Will they give Geneseo a first round bye, just because of geography, to pit them at Adrian in the quarters?

IF the two top ranked teams are still Adrian and SNC, then by all means you'd want both of them in the national semifinals. If the next two are Hobart and Geneseo, then you'd want them in the national semifinals, too. But let's say Trinity sneaks into the the E2 spot. Then what? You could make a case for Genny traveling to Adrian in a QF matchup, but that would raise a possibility of only one Western team in Lake Placid (it's happened before) and it would not be the nation's #1 team.

There is no easy solution. My preference would be 2W QF's and 2E QF's. But the guidance to the selection committee may preclude that.

Re: 2016 NCAA Tournament Thread

I think it all hinges on 1 thing:
Who gets the last Pool C, UWSP or Plattsburgh....
