2016/2017 Lowell Thread: Hoping for Chicago pt 2

Re: 2016/2017 Lowell Thread: Hoping for Chicago pt 2

Great deals

And the 100 $40 student packages sold out very quickly, all gone! Now if past patterns continue, UML is probably hunting down additional sections to expand into and offer additional student packages. Hopefully more will become available.

This is interesting regarding tickets in Manchester. Found this on a Cornell hockey message board. Hopefully if demand is high, they'll open up balcony sections as I would think they wouldn't turn away fans and their money.

"FYI. Here is a little information that some might find helpful and disappointing. Being a lifelong resident of Manchester and knowing the arena well.(It's no longer Verizon Wireless Arena,it's now SNHU Arena.} after just coming back from the ticket office, this is what I have found. First, they are not even selling the upper bowl which is half of the seats. Obviously says something about the low attendance they are expecting. The middle two sections on either side were sold out in advance. The next two sections from the blue line to the goal line on each end and side have been given to each school to sell themselves on campus. Thus, the only remaining seats to be purchased at the arena are end seats unless schools return unsold seats which is likely.Buying through Cornell directly you must purchase tickets for both days but at the arena you can buy individual days. The Manchester ticket office is taking a lot of heat for this ticket arrangement but in actuality it's the NCAA doing this. Not surprising to say the least. The first game between Lowell and Cornell should have a fairly respectable crowd with Lowell being only 30 miles away and Cornell always traveling well. The second game between Notre Dame and Minnesota there will crickets. Should Cornell win, Sunday's final could be very empty."

Surprised we still don't have any info for the party ...

Maybe the usual place is tied up with marathon stuff or a 9 or 10am pregame isn't doable. We'll see as the noon start and other downtown activities might make it problematic. But hopefully not.

Some of you have probably seen this, but it's a great read for some of the older fans and some of the newer ones to learn a bit about Lowell's colorful history. Great piece that was written almost 20 years ago by Dave Hendrickson, and I found it last week and posted on Facebook.

Since Norm Bazin became head coach, Lowell is 78-40-9 away from Tsongas Center. The winning percentage of .650 is the best in the nation over that span.

This is a great piece, amazing how far the program has come. I was at the 1983 Babson 3OT game, crazy atmosphere in there. I swear Demole was coming out halfway to the blue line making those saves. Was also at the BC game where the Lowell players skated up to the BC line up during intros, really funny. Bullock's spin-a-rama shoot out goal was a sight to behold. The BU sweep in 1996 is a great memory too.

2 Balcony sections have been opened up for Saturdays game.

207 and 208 so that's nice to see. More tickets popped up in the lower bowl too, Section 119 (179 tickets) and diagonally opposite, Section 106 (185 tickets). Must be MN and ND tickets turned back in. More for us! Spread the word.

I was at the latter two of those. Agreed, great memories.

Hendrickson posted a response on my wall that it was one of the most fun-to-write stories he ever did.
