2016-2017 Commitments

Re: 2016-2017 Commitments

Sad that there are no goalies on the Elmira list, that's where their biggest weakness was last year.

Looks like their freshman who had the best numbers last year has turned pro too, must be a goalie commit coming at some point this summer.

Re: 2016-2017 Commitments

The fight for quality Hockey players for D3 programs has manifested in private schools basically manipulating the system. We were always told that D3 did not permit giving money to their athletes. Call it what you want but private schools are doing just that. Many are giving Canadian players the dollar differential from the Canadian dollar to the US dollar. It is a disgrace that the NCAA looks the other way, but slams many D1 programs for violations . I don't suppose the NCAA will change , but this needs to be addressed

Defending the NCAA in any manner invalidates your point.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

So, I take it a private school won the D3 national title this year?

I've heard that residents of the states that border Wisconsin get in state tuition at U of Wisconsin schools. True?

This would only be a violation if the proportion of Canadian athletes is significantly different from the proportion of Canadians in the general student body. It is no different from a scholarship that is awarded to foreign students. There are regulations in place to deal with this kind of financial aid.

This might explain it a bit. Any Canadian student from Manitoba pays tuition in MN or WI based on reciprocity. Hockey player or not.

Minnesota and Wisconsin have a reciprocal agreement for in state tuition costs between the two states. That's been going on forever.

My niece, from White Bear Lake, attended Stevens Point, and paid the same tuition as a resident of Wisconsin would.

UMass-Boston looks impressive. 2 BCHL guys, 2 NAHL guys and a bunch from the USPHL-Premier, which is hands down the best Tier III junior league. They should be pretty good going forward.

ugh, Oswego has had a few BCHL forwards in the past few yrs,20+ goal scorers, didnt amount to a hill of beans, both left the program and went on to do little that I remember,ya never know...I wonder where Mike Gillespie will land in the upcoming season after he left OSU?? Perhaps he will pull a Ian Boots and end up at the other OSU,Lakers that is:p

The quantity is certainly there, exactly how many forwards do they plan to have next year? Looks like they have 8 eligible to come back and with 3 more recruits added to the list today they are up to 13 new forwards coming in. Can't imagine they will carry 21 forwards, although Oswego carried 21 a few years ago.

They have to replace their top scorers so more is better. I'll take a 90, 84 and 77 point players. They should be able to contribute.

Unfortunately he's committed to Bemidji State according to his Twitter account.
