No. not if the school has any self-respect

Well since the move to D1 I wouldn't say they have made many decisions that went against the almighty dollar. That being said I wonder how much say the school has, as I had heard the revenue for the event goes to Hockey East, and then is redistributed to the schools. Something about the upgrades to Schneider being supported by Frozen Fenway. If that's true, well... we haven't heard much about the new practice rink.

Interesting that you bring that up. I saw an article on the Globe website today saying the University system has earned a favorable bond rating as it plans to borrow $280 million for capital projects.

I searched to see if the Tsongas expansion is part of this and it doesn't appear to be. According to this report it doesn't look like its in the plans for the next 5 years. See page 74.

They still have it on the list of projects, but no approved funding and committed timeline yet.

Might disappoint.. This article with the godfather Joe B. in the Herald says otherwise.

Boston Herald said:
“I do think that it’s a special opportunity for the kids. They do act like kids when they’re out there on the ice at Fenway Park and they stop to look around the place,” said Bertagna, who cited UMass-Lowell and Vermont as schools who have expressed an eagerness to return to the event. “I think it could be successful again.”

Awful quite for such a big weekend.
Always great games against PC.
Hoping the boys bring their best tonight.

Was thinking that as well. Huge weekend. I think we're all smart enough to know that PC's record doesn't quite match the talent they have. It's a very young squad that's building for the future ... but very very talented. Bazin's teams have had their hands full with PC ... so I fully expect this to be another two close games.

Also, have a great birthday Stowell!

It seems like forever since the last home game. Hopefully the Tsongas will be packed and loud tonight. I would like to see the offense get rolling this weekend. Only 2 goals in each of the last two games. A huge weekend for both team as the standings get tighter and tighter.

Happy Birthday riverchief1

Re: 2016/2016 Lowell Thread: Hoping for Chicago

Lowell dominated PC in the first until the penalties started to pile up. In the second the Friars trapped the holy hell out of the River Hawks and Lowell had no answer. Props to PC and the coaching staff for bottling Lowell's transition game up and making the 'Hawks look inept in the process.

Need a big bounce back tomorrow night. PC and Lowell always play tight, and I expected a split, but now Bazin and company have thier backs against the wall in a barn that hasn't been kind to them in the past.

Re: 2016/2016 Lowell Thread: Hoping for Chicago

Had a chance to watch the lowlights. My thoughts.
PC Goal #1 - Gotta take the man and not swipe at pucks (Tommy). Follow that up with not chasing the puck but instead cover the open man behind the net (both Tommy and Mattias). Oh - and stay out of the box in the first place.
PC Goal #2 - Not much other than an unfortunate rebound right onto the stick of Sukumaran (Gaelic for son of Maran - jk) who was not covered and coming from behind the net. Oh - and stay out of the box in the first place.
PC Goal #3 - A puck with eyes from the point apparently thru Kamrass's body onto the stick of Bjorkqvist (please imagine the double dots above the "o" in that name) who was there unattended (Tommy and Mattias). Need to increase awareness of who's on the ice and where they're positioned at all times.
PC Goal #4 - Connor's nightmare. After Tommy and Dylan wrestled the puck away from PC on the boards behind the net, the puck magically appeared on Connor's stick. He whiffed on the clearout setting up a nice turn around pass from Pinho to Big D (6'6" Desharnais) who flings it at Wall. The puck magically makes it onto the skates of Connor positioned above the blue paint and deflects into the net. Beware of opposing team puck luck?
Let's hope for more of last night's first 10 minutes and less of the rest of the match tonight at the Holy Schnikies (Tommy Boy reference…)Arena.

This team's biggest flaw is discipline... the penalty box parade needs to stop
