2016/2016 Lowell Thread: Hoping for Chicago

Christian Folin scored his first goal of the season for the Wild tonight. Meanwhile NESN's Dale Arnold butchered his last name during Bruins-Nashville second intermission highlights. Made sure Arnold knows it via Twitter too, complete with Folin's audio pronunciation clip from Wild website. :D

Article on Tyler Wall from Ranger's website.

Articles like these will bring kids to Lowell over the long haul. Same for the alumni stuff. Seems to me the word is getting out

Re: 2016/2016 Lowell Thread: Hoping for Chicago

Good article about Tyler. Don't think I mentioned it, but when I went out to Troy, Wall's mother came over and introduced herself between periods. She was excited to see him play for the first time at this level. She also mentioned that it was the BC home game that they made their visit during last year, and how that convinced him to come to Lowell. So whenever you're in doubt about how atmosphere can help ... just remember this. :)

Re: 2016/2016 Lowell Thread: Hoping for Chicago

According to a post on the umasshoops forum there is a youth hockey tournament using the Mullins Center today and that's why the game couldn't be moved to an earlier time.

So the ice should be in wonderful shape for the game tonight after being used all day long.

Lowell 2-0 after two. The Hawks will need to kill off a 5 on 3 for 52 seconds to start the period.

Final 2-1 Lowell. A misplay by Wall behind the net cost him the shutout. Not a lot of urgency on the PP tonight. Closer score than it should have been.

"Misplay" is kind. Brain fart is more like it. I agree that the game was not close to the 2-1 score. Very solid defense throughout.

Saturday, January 21st will be the next game where we could potentially see a Hutton vs Hellebuyck matchup. St. Louis @ Winnipeg for an afternoon game.

Boblav1, thanks for posting this! That was unfortunate.
Anyone catch all the 2-2 results from last night. Haha. I think that there were 6 games that ended 2-2.

Re: 2016/2016 Lowell Thread: Hoping for Chicago

Lowell up to fifth in pairwise. They seem to have turned it around after the UConn weekend which I think served as a wake up call. A sweep of Providence this coming weekend is much needed to stay within striking distance of BC but also to hopefully create some separation, or at least stay with, the logjam of teams in 2-7 place in the standings.

Should be a great crowd Friday with the students back too.

Re: 2016/2016 Lowell Thread: Hoping for Chicago

For Stat geeks like me, please answer this. Why was Metcalf credited with a win at Dartmouth, when he was pulled at 3-3. Wall came in to save things and was in for the game winning goal? Metcalf 30:26 minutes, Wall 29:34 minutes.
Then, why was Hernberg credited with a Loss at Notre Dame when he came in to mop up for Wall who had started and gave up 4 goals? Wall 48:22, Hernberg 11:36. It seems to me that Wall should have one more win and one more loss..
