2015 WCHA Offseason

Re: 2015 WCHA Offseason

Mel Pearson tweeted that the WCHA meetings are over, no shoot-outs any time soon.

Not sure if it was even being considered, but good to hear.

I think it was being discussed. Thought I saw a tweet mentioning that it was at least being tabled.

Wonder what other goodies got discussed at the meetings...

Re: 2015 WCHA Offseason

Any discussion on the new WCHA league points system of 11 for a win, 10 for a tie and 9 for a loss? Getting this locked in place will really put the current Bi6 league points system to shame. I heard there might also be some discussion about awarding three points for a kicked in goal and two points for carrying the puck across the goal line. These items, along with shoot-outs, have an equal place at the NCAA hockey rules committee table...

I know you're mocking the shootout and various "experimental" rules that various NCAA leagues have enacted, but if the 2014-15 WCHA used your point standings, MTU would have won the MacNaughton. By one point over MSU.

Michigan Tech 299
Minnesota State 298
Bowling Green 294
Alaska * 292
Ferris State 292
Bemidji State 287
Northern Michigan 287
Alabama Huntsville 286
Lake Superior State 286
Alaska Anchorage 283

Both Alaska schools would be eliminated, giving you MTU (1) vs LSSU (8), MSU (2) vs UAH (7), BGSU (3) vs NMU (6), Ferris (4) vs Bemidji (5).

You're not very good at math are you? It would not have changed the standings at all.

Re: 2015 WCHA Offseason

No his math is wrong, MSU would still finish first, etc.

11-2=9, 10-1=9, 9-0=9 therefore puts under real system equals made up points us 9*games played

I apologize for not going through it thoroughly before replying. I know better than that. :(

Sens netminder Andrew Hammond was named one of the finalists for the 2015 Bill Masterton Memorial Award given to the National Hockey League player who "best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey".

BGSU is proud of the Hamburglar!
20-1-2 record in 24 regular season games for the #Sens
1.79 GAA
.941 save percentage

Re: 2015 WCHA Offseason

He was fantastic down the stretch for the Sens, but nominating him for the Masterton seems like a backdoor way of giving him a Vezina nod that he didn't play enough games to qualify for.

First order of business, I nominate Aparch to handle the recount of WCHA season points. Please have MSU ship the MacNaughton to:
Michigan Technological University
Attention: Mel Pearson and Men's Ice Hockey Team
1400 Townsend Drive
Houghton, MI, 49931-1295

You're not very good at math are you? It would not have changed the standings at all.
Tim - Shhhhhh, you're wrecking the fun.

Now for round two:
As I was going to the NCAA hockey championships, I met John Buccigross who was traveling with seven hockey coaches, each of the hockey coaches had seven players, and each of the players had seven fans and each of the fans had seven kids. Bucci, coaches, players, fans and kids... how many were going to the NCAA hockey championships?
Hint - The answer does not result in MTU winning the WCHA.

Not enough information to determine, since you only "met" them, and didn't indicate whether or not they were going to the championship with you.

Jeremy Irons, you are not.

Re: 2015 WCHA Offseason

Anybody have any intel on nonconference scheduling for UAA for next year? Especially who, if anybody, is making the trip up there? I just had a friend move up to the bush and we're looking to schedule a meetup or two in Anchorage for hockey. Also, will Tech be up there next season? Wouldn't mind seeing them again.
