2015 D-3 finalists Phrozen Four

Re: 2015 D-3 finalists Phrozen Four

....yes, you "have to be in it to win it" (apply)...my unscientific survey suggests folks would be staying from Watertown to Syracuse, so Greene's, Old City and TheShed would be sponsoring multiple D buses to keep patrons in town and then get them home....

I always stay in Syracuse for the 2-fur (Oswego/Cortland) and the drive isn't bad, 65mph a lot of the way - I don't see travel (lodging) being a big issue.

If the semi's were in Cortland and the finals in Oz, then I could see that.... The distance from Oz to Syracuse is the same as Platty to Lake Placid - Cardinal Fans driving in for each day from the comfort of their own homes (and beds) isn't quite the same as staying a couple nights in a budget motel 35 miles to the south or north of Oz. For fans of teams several hundred miles away, that isn't a great championship weekend experience IMHO...

Having made both trips many times, it is about 35-45 minutes from the Carrier Circle hotels to Oswego versus a little over an hour from Plattsburgh to Lake Placid. Given Syracuse's airports have sufficient flight coverage of most of the US/Canada, I think Oswego could in aggregate provide a championship weekend experience on par with the aggregate Lake Placid experience. You might not get to visit the Olympic Center but you can visit the home of Gramma Brown's baked beans and a nuke plant too!

My father helped build part of 9 Mile Point nuclear plant. I remember when I was in college we went on a tour through Alcan Aluminum that was down the road. They had a different way of operating a business. Guess it didn't prove fruitful!

Ya gotta have the 4 locker rooms too...I know that's an important part of it....I was wondering about Glens Falls Civic Center, but I think there's a locker room issue there. Does Oswego have that? Probably because they have a women's team.

It will be tough to beat the Placid experience...park your car @ the hotel and walk everywhere you need to get to...

IMO, Lake Placid should be the permanent designated east coast NCAA DIII men AND women's Ice Hockey hosting site!!!

Well we know they have at least 3....I would guess there are two visiting team rooms, but I haven't been below on that side of the building.....

Alabama-Huntsville should host the D-III Phrozen Four and compete in it as well. That way, fans can attend some SPHL games while they are down there and see how all the recent D-3 alums are doing.

Surely you jest.
