2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

There is certainly an opportunity for other squads to improve in women's hockey if they put the effort into it. Heck, Clarkson didn't even have a women's program when I graduated less than 20 years ago.

I believe the coach comes first, then good players follow, then you have a real program. A good recent example of how to make the leap: in 2009 North Dakota was in such shambles that the Lam twins enrolled at Minnesota. That is like a Red Sox fan buying season tickets to Yankee Stadium.

But since Idalski brought in the Lams in 2010, UND has consistently been in either the first or second tier of women's hockey.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

I watched the game Vic. Not CCT's best effort. I don't think Shea would have allowed 4 goals but the entire team wasn't sharp. With BU being less than inspiring so far, one can at least wonder about strength of schedule thus far. But a win is a win.

I watched the game on Friday. 2 glaring defensive errors led to the 2 UNH goals. Other than that I thought the team played well. This weekend will be very telling. I think they lose Renata Fast to the Canadian National Team for the next 2 weekends for the 4 Nations Cup. If they do and Erin Ambrose is still not able to play, they are down to 4 defensemen, Harmon, Jacobson, Pozzebon and Keenan. If Fast is gone this mean Maschmeyer is not in the nets for Harvard but their backup is very capable and would probably be starting for most Div 1 schools. Not the best thing playing Harvard and Dartmouth on the road. If they somehow pull out 2 wins this weekend IMHO that will be quite the feat.

CHAOS

1) Wisconsin -- Hasn't given up a goal in 351 consecutive games. CAVEAT! Gave up a goal in both games they played against Providence. This obviously means Hockey East is superior to the WCHA. THIS WAS A JOKE SETTLE DOWN.
2) Minnesota -- I said before the season started that it would take an undefeated BC and two UM losses for me to flip BC above UM, and that still feels accurate. Especially with the Gophers missing a player or two in that game.
3) Boston College -- They've improved more this season than they did over the course of last season. Very happy with how they are playing so far in all facets of the game, particularly special teams.
4) Clarkson -- A huge cut below the top three. Two ties this weekend but still undefeated, hard to drop them from 4th just yet.

And now............. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

5) Northeastern -- Playing great and it's not all coming from Coyne
6) North Dakota -- *DAP*
7) Bemidji State -- Nothing earth-shattering against SCSU but won nonetheless (assuming no surprises at the end of today's game
8) Harvard -- Win over SLU was okay but otherwise unimpressive.
9) Quinnipiac -- Stumble against Yale
10) Princeton -- Alright, I see you at 4-0-0.

Nobody other than Bob Sansevere thought any team would go unbeaten in the WCHA, so I am not surprised by Friday's result. I am surprised, however, at the Badgers' decision to stop allowing goals - I hope they rethink this policy.

Well, the moron who interviewed Potomac for the St. Paul paper (BS maybe? they didn't ID the questioner) had a question that included 'going undefeated' along with a lot of other stupidity.

That said, nobody goes undefeated, it surprises me that a close loss to the #7 team would drop the Gophers from 1 to 3. I don't participate here because I don't think any of us has seen enough of all of these teams (and early like this ANY of them) to make these guesses worthwhile. I personally was thinking, given the Badger numbers, that UW has a good claim on #1 before this weekend but I also feel you don't become king until you depose the former king. Ask me on December 7th and I hope to have a better gauge of those two teams. Given the lack of common opponents it will probably be March before we find out where BC falls.

The Gophers were ranked above UW and BC in large part due to having won the NCAAs last year. Defending champs are often afforded that courtesy until they lose, unless they are hit so heavily by graduation that they are no longer recognizable as being the same team. Had Clarkson won both of its games this weekend, then I think the Golden Knights would have passed the Gophers as well.

Safe to say I think that those who do participate here believe it's worthwhile or they wouldn't take the time to do it. For me it's just a fun way to follow how all the teams are doing.

Re: 2015-2016 USCHO Posters Poll

I pick the 12 ECAC teams in a tie for #11 through #22. 13 games played, 5 ties. Dartmouth squeaks by Harvard, Harvard squeaks by St Lawrence, St Lawrence squeaks by Dartmouth: loop-de-loop, loop-de-loop, loop-de-loop. Clarkson and Harvard tie. Clarkson and Dartmouth tie. For cripes sake, Union and Cornell tie!

Yeah, "BS" meant Bobby. sorry for the confusion. Bob is trying to fill the Sid "SCUD" Hartman chair for pretending to know about hockey. It is not a compliment to say Bob is doing the job as well as Sid used to.

I disagree simply because there is no good yardstick for comparing yet. My guess is UW is a better team than UM at the moment & the lose didn't change that guess but, had the jerseys been reversed and W was #1 and M was undefeated (and unscored on in WCHA) I would not flip them. Thats just me - you see a lot more games than I do (probably than any of us) so I defer.

DId not mean that as an insult, it is an interesting conversation. I do read it, I just don't think I believe I can know the teams well enough to play along. Obviously lots of other people don't see it that way and there is nothing wrong with that, I just felt I needed to add that as explanation because I normally don't post on this thread.
