Re: 2015-2016 D-I Polls and Rankings

Yeah. The only rough comparison one can make between one and two is based on a visiting UMD. The scores were moderately close between the two series (with MN having a bit more scoring). But there was a larger difference in shots - UMD 57 BC 64 vs. UMD 36 MN 77.

Re: 2015-2016 D-I Polls and Rankings

You have to wonder where those voters ranked Cornell.
Maybe one of them was Doug Derraugh. After 120 minutes of watching it up close, he may have concluded that BC was the best team out there. I don't have a problem with it. Perfect is perfect, and people can come to different interpretations about which version is the best. The Gophers usually lose in Grand Forks, so there'll be a lot more movement after that.

Re: 2015-2016 D-I Polls and Rankings

... or maybe they figured MN is getting soft, taking 2 games to score 11 goals instead of only needing one game to score 11
and has given up 7 goals in the last 4 games

Shocked UW jumped BC. Don't understand UMD getting votes, they beat Mankato and Lindenwood and lost 6 games to ranked teams.

Wisconsin has not give up a goal in the WCHA. Best team I have seen in a long time. The Gophers?????? Not sure how they let one get away in ND when the "Who" have not had much success lighting the lamp this year. Hmmmmm? Maybe not as strong as we all thought?

Re: 2015-2016 D-I Polls and Rankings

Yeah I mean I honestly can't see justification for putting BC over UW at this point, that defense is mighty impressive.

We must have different eyes. I recently saw a team with an undefeated season plus.

Any team can have an off night. But the Gophers have waay too much firepower and will win the year's series with UW. Bank on it.

2Bladedskates with the take that the red menance is the best team he/she has seen in a long time is an interesting one. The 2012/2013 season does set the bar pretty high so I guess we will see what they can do.

Op-ed: A year when NC games between BSU / UND and NU / QU would be most enlightening.

Re: 2015-2016 D-I Polls and Rankings

Quite an odd gap in SOS between the RPI and KRACH.

For example, RPI has BC above UMD in SOS. UMD has had 6 of its 12 games against the top 3 teams and 8 of its 12 games against top 10 teams (with most of those being on the road). BC has had just two ranked games against Cornell when it was #9 which now has a record of 3-3-2. To me, KRACH's SOS makes a bit more sense with BC at 18th and UMD at 3rd.

The strength of schedule in RPI is a complete mess. There are reasons not to take the KRACH SOS as gospel, but it is at least useful. The same is not true of RPI; it's best to ignore it except when predicting who will make the NCAA tournament; that's really all that it tells you, not how good the teams actually are.
