Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!
The Kings are built for best of seven series, no doubt about it.

Agreed, though there was lots of puck luck for both offenses tonight. The Hawks had some serious puck luck for Goals 2 and 3.
Gotta file a partial dissent here. Sure, fans with titles should be grateful. But real opportunities to win a Cup aren't the norm. For most franchises, the drought years greatly outnumber the legitimate contender years. I say fans have every right to "mourn" the opportunities lost. Even fans rooting for a repeat.I actually thought these games were #OppositeGirl proof. While I preferred to see LA win, I would've been ok with Chicago winning. The only team I did not want to see in the finals was Montreal, so I got that.
Sorry for you, I know you wanted it as it's been a WHOLE 12 MONTHS since the Hawks won the Cup. See what I did there all you Boston hating posters??![]()

Put together a special mix of high end talent and depth, and you'll have a shot at a the title over the course of several seasons. But once that window of opportunity closes, you may be waiting a couple of decades for another legitimate shot. Gotta do everything thing you can, to close the deal as many times as you can, when that window is open.
Yes, in college hockey contending annually is more doable. And yes, the Red Wings have remained contenders for a very long time and provide a dramatic exception to the general rule. But for most NHL teams, "there's always next year" isn't really the case.
Or, since I'm not a Boston hater, maybe I'm missing your specific meaning...
Got it now; and we mostly agree. You had every right to post "Tough night to be a Boston fan" when you did. Personally, I try to maintain a consistent stance that fans should never have to apologize or feel guilty for "winning too much." And certainly that includes the fans of Boston's pro teams. You are missing it. I remember one night a few years back, the Bruins lost a series to the Capitals, the Red Sox had a terrible loss and the Celtics lost a playoff game the same night. I had posted - "Tough night to be a Boston fan" and got more than one "You have no right to complain because all your teams have won lately" type of reply. I'm sorry. I can't be just a little upset that on one night, three of my teams lost, and one of them's season ended?? And it happens all the time. Yes, Boston has had more than its share of success in the last decade but like you said, fans have very right to mourn the opportunities so I should be able to give it back when the same thing happens to another team.

One nuance: When you opt to "give it back" on the board, you're going to hit innocent bystanders as well. But we all know that; it's just the nature of the beast.
I'm glad pro teams I root for are never competitive at the same time.![]()
Are Minnesota pro teams ever competitive?
Well...there's the Lynx. Are Minnesota pro teams ever competitive?
You all should just be thankful you're not from Toronto!![]()
. However, the Jays are on a tear right now, much to the delight of my parents.

Brewers are in the mix and hope always springs eternal at this time of year for the Packers.
I'll get by.![]()
We also have nothing else to cheer for, professionally.
Hey, Toronto doesn't have it all bad. The Argonauts just won the Grey Cup a couple years back!
With the money they splashed around TFC better be playing more than "inspired football".Happens every now and then.
Heck, the Raptors made the post season for the first time in forever and even TFC is playing inspired football!
