Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

I see there are no Stanley Cup games scheduled to be played tonight. Maybe Boston and Pittsburgh could scrimmage.

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

It's worth remembering that his incident with the cabbie and getting ****faced in Madison happened basically while he was college-aged.

Edit: Holy smokes, that was only two years ago? Seems like ages. http://deadspin.com/5909246/reconstructing-patrick-kanes-drunken-weekend-in-madison
I like this part the best, "Kaner was pulling down girls sun glasses and then going "ehhh, not good enough " just straight being a ****** right to their faces. Pretty strong move if you can pull it off."

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

I'm not biting on that, but I'll sure remember this past series when Gopher fan criticizes style of play in the fall.

At least a Badger/Gopher series is only two games, not 6 in a row of the neutral zone trap. Wheeeeee!!!!!! ;):D

I don't forget anything. I may remember it wrong, but I don't forget it. :p

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

Quick Brain dump on the Bruins:

- If Thornton doesn't squirt Pernell Karl, the Bruins win this series.
- Lucic needs to grow up. That was an embarrassing display. And if you act like a complete tool, try to at least back it up on the ice.
- The Bruins totally let the entire Canadian "juju" get into their heads. It starts with the coach. Speaking of the coach...
- How does Claude not shake up his lines when he looks at nothing but bagels across his first line's score sheet? Seriously?
- I hear Seidenberg is ready to go for Game 8. :)

Okay Hawks fans: Am I rooting for home ice tomorrow night or the weaker goalie? Discuss.

I'd take home ice. Quick is good, but can be beat.

Plus, aren't a couple of Kings d-men hurt?

Part of me would rather see Anaheim though as a new opponent (played Kings last year).

Both potential series are winnable or losable. Will be tough either way.

Agree on all points. My thoughts:

I like Julien, but he needs to be fired after this series. I haven't seen someone outcoached this bad in big game since Parker retired from BU. Clearly the Canadians had dump and chase, aka dump and suck, figured out. They would just retreat into their zone ahead of time, allow the B's to shoot it in and have a player waiting there to send it back out. So what does Claude do? He plays dump and suck even when there's 20 seconds left in the game! Hello, THERE'S NO TIME TO DO THAT WITH LESS THAN A MINUTE LEFT. GO TO THE FVCKING NET!!!

On that note, I can't count how many times Kreji in particular whirled away from the net when he had the puck, or a B's forward would skate into the zone and instead of going at Price would wing around and go behind the net only to kick it out to the blue line. Again, Montreal had this figured out by game 1. Change your approach.

Nothing speaks to a bad coaching job like 1) your team comes out tight in a big game and does stupid things, 2) you won't change your style of play even if its clear to everyone but yourself it isn't working, or 3) you allow your opponent to play to its strengths. 3 for 3 in this series for Julien.

Next season, everyone not named Iginla needs to work on a drill called "Hitting the Open Net". Extra practice time for Lucic, the dumb son of a bi tch who'd have 50 goals a year if he'd put away half of the opportunities that he fans on.

How you come out flat in a game 7 in your own barn vs your arch rivals who don't have more talent than you is beyond me.

Iginla missed one last night. Just sayin'...

Don't agree. Even if it had some minor effect on the Canadiens, it shouldn't have had any effect on the Bruins, and the Bruins were not ready to play in games 6 or 7 (see below)

- Lucic needs to grow up. That was an embarrassing display. And if you act like a complete tool, try to at least back it up on the ice.
Didn't see the handshake incident, but I agree generally. The old "caught up in the heat of the moment" line he used after the spearing incident only works so many times. After a while, you start to look like an ***. Better men than you have had to shake hands with odious characters such as Claude Lemieux and Ulf Samuelson, and you can't manage to do it with Dale Weise? You might lose sometimes, but at least lose with dignity.

- The Bruins totally let the entire Canadian "juju" get into their heads. It starts with the coach. Speaking of the coach...

I'm not a Claude hater, but I'm beginning to wonder if Lou Lamoriello got it right when he fired Claude (who'd had a successful regular season) just before the playoffs. This team did not come out ready to play in games 6 or 7 (or game 7 vs. Toronto last year for that matter). One reason I don't come down harder on him is that they did come out ready to play in four game 7's in 2011.

- I hear Seidenberg is ready to go for Game 8. :)...
B's played so well in March and April, I had forgotten about him. But in the heat of the playoffs, Bartkowski/Meszaros and Miller were exposed badly. Having Seidenberg and McQuaid instead of them would have been nice

I thought you were the unusual BADger fan that actually knew something about the game, guess not, eh? :p

Can't tell the difference between a 1-3-1 with a trap and team that throws a hard 2-man forecheck in. Or a team that always hangs back when the score is tied or they're leading versus one whose d-men have the green light to jump in and will go deep in the o-zone.

Is that really what the initials stand for???? Huh. And I actually agree with that. In addition, if all that Twitter drama didn't happen after Game 1, this series wouldve been over after Game 5. There just seemed to be a layer of drama over this series that lead to this loss. Something never felt right and it kicked off with all of that stuff after Game 1's loss. This series was over after that game. After such a strong finish against Detroit, they needed to come out guns-a-blazin' in Game 1. Oops. Not to mean they should actually have used guns. Apparently the Montreal players take things a little too literally. And I think their comments - the "tattling" of what Lucic said - is all part of their mind games. No way in hell did Weise believe he actually thought Lucic was going to kill him. They're all probably sitting back loving the drama this has created, just another way to stick it the Bruins and their fans. Gotta hand it to them. They're extremely good at it. It's why they won the series, IMO.

Not to diminish or apologize for Lucic. He can be a real tool when he wants to be. Or when he doesn't realize it. And look what's happened. If they're not going to win, then fine. But to have all this other crap out there, that's what is bothersome.

Are you saying that the Wild's version of the trap is more interesting to watch?

http://www.csnchicago.com/article/three-keys-hawks-victory

"In Games 3 and 4 however, the Blackhawks deviated from that strategy, and their attempts to break into the offensive zone were largely thwarted in the neutral zone trap that the Wild set up."

I can find more references including Hawks players mentioning it if you'd like. Never said the Wild played the 1-1-3.

;)

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

Yeah, as much as it would be fun to pile on Lucic - and maybe he's a ***** - these sorts of things don't happen in a vacuum. My guess is that several things over this series or over the years led up to this.

Would you like him to be classier in that moment? Sure, but who knows what the Montreal players may have done or said.

I don't understand why people are so slow to appreciate the value of good handshake line confrontation.
