Some fans believe that a player's history of goonery shouldn't affect their suspension. Some fans believe that it should. That has long since been covered.

They should, to a point. Given Cooke's recent history in the past couple of years...I would take him out of the repeat offender category, then use the precedent I mentioned earlier, plus one game (because he's Cooke, and it's the NHL) for reference.

It would almost be worth it to be fired as a ref to punch him right in the face when he starts to mouth off.

I'm sure someone could get a kickstarter going to fund that guy's retirement.
