Sure. And then they can explain their safety video and Bickels knee that got zero. And since they cant they wont cause they know they cant. Or they could admit that all 7 of Cookes was rep only, but thats not what they said in the video they made explaining the Cooke suspension.

And thats really the point, there is no consistency. Cooke is basically getting punished for who he was, while others who do something just as bad or worse get off with nothing because they don't have a reputation. We should be punishing the action first, then adding games for repeat offenders... If we can't be consistent on the action, then whats the point? And no I don't think Cooke should be punished more just because Barrie actually got hurt. I don't know how anyone can look at the Cooke hit and the Porter hit in the kneeing explanation video which got 4 games and tell me that Cooke's hit was worse. Not to mention everyone claims suspensions in the playoffs are less because of the value of the games...so it seems pretty impossible to arrive at 7 games without a large portion of that being based on a reputation of a guy who almost has less penalty minutes (134 PIM) over the last 3 seasons (212 games) as he had in the his last "bad" season 67 games, 129 PIM.

So you want minimum suspensions for certain types of hits, and then "enhancers" based on past history with dirty play?

So, 20% of his career is a blip? I have to disagree. Three years isn't a blip, it's a trend. A season is a blip. Three is not.

Yeah, I do call it a blip to use Brenthoven's terminology. So what then is the other 80% when, I think everyone can agree, he was a scumbag? I still contend he is. And it hasn't been three season's since he was suspended or at least not three 82 game seasons.

So you can't be reformed? At all?

With stuff like he does and with his continual history of it...no I don't think so. If it was a one or two time thing say, back in 2001 when he first came up then yes maybe he could be reformed. But for me the 80% of his career weighs much more than the past 20% games. I do think he tried to be better but obviously he couldn't keep it going. Now, who knows what the Wild have in store for them for the next 2 years. Based upon his history, I am much more inclined to think they are going to have the Matt Cooke we all know and love (80% of his career) than the impostor he has been this past two and a half seasons (20% of his career).

So obviously, any time the Wild win a game this will be the discussion. Fantastic.

Not sure why it's still being discussed.

We all know that the NHL is inconsistent with player discipline. Move on.

Yeah. Great right?

Don't get all jumpy Wild fans, the only team out west to win a road game is San Jose. Home teams are something like 15-1. Don't get excited until somebody wins on the road.

That was a general message, not one to you. Sorry.

No I understood that. I was just going back and forth trying to find a Wild fan that was going bananas over the wins or something. All I see is talk of Cookiegate. :)

I'm sure things on other boards are different though. Minnesota sports fans really live it up in the moment, because we know it isn't going to last and our hearts will inevitably be ripped out.
