Note to Columbus: You're taking this "A two goal lead is the worst lead in hockey" crap far too seriously. They're going to be kicking themselves bigtime when the end up losing this series.

Zus had a whale of a game tonight.:p

I did notice Moreso tonight how he's lost a step though. He's definitely got a serious role, I just can't see it as centering 10 and 88.

I'm good with 4th line and PK specialist. ;)

No, not nonsense. Stupid what he did and unnecessary. Cooke went back to being Cooke and proved why people were upset with him coming here in the first place.

If Cooke gets more games than Seabrook, the league is a joke.

I would agree with this. However, since Cooke has a rep and Seabrook did not I imagine they stupidly take that into consideration. What Seabrook did is egregious and borderline criminal.

That happens anywhere though. Look at Jan fan (some of them) defending Aaron Marvin's hit and any number of other questionable hits that are defended by the hometown fans on this site.

Huh...

BS.

Check out Ott's hit last night that wasn't called. The difference was that Keith didn't get hurt and that outcome had nothing to do with Ott's intent. Just dumb luck.

Ask any player and they'd rather get hit high than have their knee taken out.

Cooke will get a long rest because he's a repeat offender.

And yes, it was equally bush league that Bickel did it and it's not my fault that the league lets him get away with it.

Sticking out your leg like that is one of the worst things a player can do on the ice to another player. Not the worst, but way up there.

My take on all of this is that outcome should have no bearing on punishment. The act alone should warrant the punishment.

If the NHL would adopt this, it would cut down on the perception (reality) that all of this seems so arbitrary. A check from behind or a knee or an egregious charging/boarding is bad in its own right and shouldn't need a catastrophic injury to be punished.

Adopt this and you'd cut down on the incidents real fast as players would know that they're in trouble regardless of the likely event that the player they just cheap-shotted will most likely get back up.

I mean, where else does this logic hold? You don't get to drive drunk as long as you don't kill anyone or hit something.

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

I have heard that the new CBA only covers fines and forfeit of salary. If that's true, Cooke is dead in the water. Oh well, that line did a great job against Colorado's top line last night.

Of course who commits the transgression counts. NHL has said so and they are right for it.

Players are stupid when it comes to their own protection. Using this as an example is dumb. All the players can see is that a blown knee keeps them from playing today. Concussions keeps them from functioning when their 50 and they don't care about it until they reach that age. The league isn't worried about knees, they are worried about $50B lawsuits from not diagnosing and treating concussions.

Ha! You're solution is better but to think it would cut down in incidents is naive. The only thing that will cut down on the incidents is major fines/suspensions. Start sitting guys for 10 games on the first incident. That might get the players attention. And no more of this BS that if an infraction happens in the postseason then they # of games is less because playoff games mean more. If it's 5 game suspension in the regular season then its worth 5 in the post season. The only think that will make the change is to hurt the teams chances of winning and the players wallets.

I think they put Nino on that line for Cooke, and they'll still be ok. Haula is the straw that stirs that particular drink.

Yep. Guy is still a disgrace to the NHL.

It's a tossup for a guy like Cooke (and Torres in SJ.) Sharks got burned last year and lost in 7. Now it might be Minnesota's turn.

If the Wild loses in 7 games, it is not because of anything Matt Cooke did or didn't do. It is because they puked all over themselves in game one.
