Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

In other news, the Blackhawks lines are shaken up again this morning.

Just swapping Bicks for Versteeg. Yeah Q, that'll do it!

Selke caliber Handzus still the second line center and using that shutdown skill on Hossa and Sharp.

Q's woody for that plug is hard to ****ing fathom.

Well, Keumper and Heatley are in tonight; Brodziak sits for the Wild.

I can see giving Heatley a shot (maybe it's my Badger-colored glasses talking, but he hasn't been that bad such as to leave him out the whole series). But sitting Brodziak is an interesting choice (and maybe that's my I-seriously-hate-Veilluex colors showing).

In 'zus defense, he does a ton of the little things right. He may be more effective now without Backes playing too.

I don't have a problem with Zus playing 4th line and PK if Q wants him.

Centering Hossa & Sharp? Horrible.

He's killing any chance at those two being effective. Have you watched him? He's behind every play BOTH ways. Never in the offensive zone in time to support and then beaten easily in transition when the puck comes back the other way.

Zus had a nice playoff last year and contributed. He's completely lost "it" this year though and clearly should have rode off into the sunset with his ring.

So do you swap Kruger and 'Zus? Shaw to 2nd, then you diminish Kane's line? Not sure what combo I want to see most.

I don't think that Hossa and Sharp have to have a playmaker with them, but they at least need someone who can keep up.

I'd be good with Kruger or even suiting up Regin.

Huh, works for me.

t-shirt that says... "Wakey Wakey Backes"

I deleted my post because the link worked the second time. Typically classy Blackhacks fans... :p

I'm no fan of the Blues, but that is low given the cheap shot hit.

I know, it's hard to live up to the class that is Minnesota fans. You guys at every level continue to light the way. ;)

Not sure it's Hawks fans selling those shirts, although some may buy them.

As far as the Blues and specifically Backes goes, boo hoo. They've been playing the Hawks physically - often over the line - for the last several years in an attempt to neutralize the talent gap. They've had plenty of questionable plays on our star players over that time and the difference is that an injury didn't result. The Blues can die in a hotel fire.

Yep, I'm ready to go for game 3.:cool:

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

What kills me is the retweets I've seen saying it was a "clean hit," yet these same "fans" whined just three weeks ago because poor Towes got trucked pretty violently and the brute that hit him should have been suspended for life, shot by a firing squad, and his kids sold into slavery.

Gurtholfin just plays along, but there are fans who would call him out for being too soft.

The crazies on the Blackhawks bandwagon scare me.

Do I agree with that? To some extent, yes..Also, it's a rivalry, these guys hate each other, and you'd be appalled by some of the things that are said on the ice. As a guy who played a little junior hockey, and has relationships with former professionals, I don't think it's a very big deal. (Which is probably why the Blues haven't had a ton to say about it.)

BS. Some of the crazies on ANY bandwagon should scare you. You and EODS consistently call out only one team and one fan base.

The hit deserved a suspension and I said that from the start.

The "Wakey Wakey" imo is classic and Backes deserves it. Who knows what else was said in that game or in the past? Chirping happens and the bleeding hearts can just get over it coz we don't hear 99.9% of what's said out there.

Btw, reports are that Backes was challenging Toews to a fight which led him to getting chirped.

Seriously. Bunch of babies. You should hear what my kid tells me is said in his high school games.

It's hockey Nancys.

Can't believe they won't give Jon Blum a shot over that roadcone Spurgeon.

Maybe it's because I'm surrounded by their fans and live in their media market that I'm over exposed to it versus other fan bases?

Speaking of the crazies: Sarah Spain, ESPN radio co-host here in Chicago has been Tweeting and Facebook posting some fairly level headed commentary. Seems one of her radio co-hosts has been making on-air comments about how Backes was faking it and he deserved to get hit, should have been hit harder, and how Seabrook is his player of the week for his great hit.

Disgusting.

Might as well call up Bobby Shea and/or Jared Nightingale for this series. Hawks could use another goon or two who knows how to sucker punch Blues players.

That happens anywhere though. Look at Jan fan (some of them) defending Aaron Marvin's hit and any number of other questionable hits that are defended by the hometown fans on this site.

Implying that this is a Chicago fan phenomenon is disingenuous.

A radio personality should know better though.

Listening to the Score all day today and they've been very hard on the Hawks' behavior to the point that I think they're going too far.
