2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

Those games are fun when the right team wins, eh?:)

This series feels a lot like the finals from last year. So many momentum swings and a real test of both teams' fortitude... Several OT games... VERY hard hockey being played out there.

Like Ferentz(?) said on the post game, whoever comes out of this is gonna be feeling it.

And yes, certainly more fun to win this game than the alternative.

So am I correct in saying that the home team has won every game so far in the west?

Nice to see Andrew Ference has a present (and a future) in hockey broadcasting. Great, class guy. I understood why the Bruins let him go, but was sad about it.:(

The Sharks won on the road in game 3, the lone road win in the West.

It really does feel like the Finals; and it's the first round!! The winner of this series, if healthy, is going to be EXTREMELY tough to beat in the West.

Gurt, as we were talking about Zus slowing down that Sharp as Kane line, which there was less of tonight, I had a conversation with a friend. When discussing that Q added speed to that line more often than not, my buddy said, "It's like telling two ferraris they no longer have to pull a Buick.":D

Smith's speed was key on that last rush; took Shattenkirk out of the play and allowed Kane to shift his angle to shoot.

Not to beat a very dead horse, but let me chime in on Cooke/Seabrook/wheel of justice.

Those saying Cooke got too severe a suspension: is that more a feeling of 'Seabrook got off quite easy' for his actions? Say, if Seabrook got 5 games instead of 3; would Cooke's suspension of 7 games be more in line with what you would deem fair?

Personally, after just finally seeing the video, I can't say I vehemently disagree with 7 games. His history played a huge part in that, even with his recent stretch of good behavior.

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

Who cares? It's Matt Cooke, not an actual hockey player.

I was really pizzed when the Wild got Cooke because I had hated him for so long. People told me he had changed and I doubted it. I started to get convinced that he had as he did not pull bonehead stuff and seemed a good citizen since joining the Wild. He seemed to revert to his true self with that hit and I have little sympathy for him now. I agree there have been worse hits by others recently, but it doesn't excuse his hit. I don't doubt he tried to change but he was a ****head for so long it's hard to believe that his real character has changed. I suspect he changed his game just cause he knew he'd be out of the league if he didn't.

When he's not playing like a ****head he is a heck of a hockey player. One of the best PK guys the Wild have ever had and a great defensive forward plus he bring some offense as well.

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

Might as well chime in: given past history, the Cooke suspension is right. He did turn the ship around for the last two seasons(IMO he's a better reformed goon than Todd Fedoruk, and that guy had PP potential), but that knee was a return to form. 7 games seems fair.

Avs fans are a bit over the top, and I don't know what Erik Johnson is smoking. Okay, maybe we know that much.

I will agree with others who say Seabrook got off light. Probably because he's an all star and probably because he plays for the Blackhawks. No idea why Bickell never got a second look.

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

Not going to chime in on Cooke & Seabrooke, even though I want the Avs to win the West.

But I will say it's nice to see Fleury is back to playoff form, since I want the Jackets to beat the Pens. I said Jackets in six - I still say Jackets in six. :D

It's doubly fun since I'm stuck having to watch the homer Pens' broadcasts instead of Bob Cole & HNIC!

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

Somebody in my NHL Challenge Bracket has the Wild winning the Cup.

That's the pick people make when they figure that they're not going to win the challenge bracket anyway.

Re: 2014 Stanley Cup - Don't Toews me, man!!!

Zetterberg went to the Doc's after AM skate, game time decision if he is cleared. Bertuzzi back in tonight, for Jurco. Hopefully this generates a little more offense.
