2014 Frozen Four

Re: 2014 Frozen Four

About 30 minutes from Brunswick, door to door. Of course the ride will be familiar to Nescac schools since Bates, our non-hockey playing member, lives there. I think our friends from Norwich and the rest of the ECAC-E will find the surroundings friendly too. The interlocking schedule NESCAC and ECAC-E used to play in hockey was loosely mirrored though the rest of the sporting schedule. It's a decent facility, lots of new hotels in adjacent Auburn, Maine. Bates has a rink which may be available for morning additional skates and of course Bowdoin and Brunswick are close-by. Lots of history. Cassius Clay beat Sonny Liston with the famous phantom punch in the 1960's and the place has seen tons and tons of high school hockey over the years. The ice surface.....meh.

I'd rather take the downeaster from North Station to Portland than to take a Cape Air flight. But! AirTran flies from BWI to Portland. Looks like a plan.

And the Downeaster comes all the way to Brunswick. Hotel and car rental right there at the station.

Lots of nice places to see in the area, too many to list! It was always a trip looked forward to.

One spot I can recommend if you do go to Freepot is Jameson Tavern right next to LLB. Perfect spot to while away some time while some members of your party shop.

Re: 2014 Frozen Four

do we need to exchange money when we go there??:p

They are pretty much on the barter system up there. Bring lots of salt and other food preservatives and you should be able to make some trades. Electricity is scarce and they still haven't heard of cell phones, and internet to them means the spider is going to get to eat.

Re: 2014 Frozen Four

What happened to the West Region getting it once every three years.
No one submit a bid to host???
What a crock!!!

Pete:

No worries! I was told that in 2015, the West will host in Wyoming. Going back to the East in 2016, Halifax, Nova Scotia. 2017, London if they play their cards right!;)

Thanks, with that, it now makes more sense with what the NCAA is doing to us "Western" fans.

2017 is actually Loudon, NH - they are looking into something for the racing off-season.
