2014-2015 Quinnipiac Bobcats: "I hear Boston is nice in April"

Re: 2014-2015 Quinnipiac Bobcats: "I hear Boston is nice in April"

The bus ride down to KMSP must have been "interesting". Sounds like the weather may have been ugly.

Interesting weekend ahead as we escaped (and boy I mean escaped) the Capital District with 4 points back in November. Can we talk about Tim Clifton. Guy has done recently what we expected from TSD. Amazing Rand was one of the only coaches to be interested in him as well as Connor.

Has anyone else noticed that Anas' shot has been fairly weak all year. He without a doubt leads the team in shot attempts blocked. Noticed it around the Cornell-Colgate weekend and now I really notice it even with Buccigross acting like he's like Gretzky.

Re: 2014-2015 Quinnipiac Bobcats: "I hear Boston is nice in April"

Awesome weekend!

Tonight they absolutely dominated Union for 2-1/2 periods. The Dutchmen made it interesting but we stood strong and took the win. Our forecheck was relentless... definitely the best I've seen this season. Save for a couple of mistakes late in the 3rd, Union could muster nothing all game.

And it was great to pregame with Brian, Marc (aka Deli Man), Kyle, and a bunch of others whose names I forget (sorry, I'm old ;) ). Made for an absolutely fantastic day!

It was great meeting up with you, Mark! Solid time had by all! I'm sure I can speak for Brian when I say you are more than welcome to join us for any of our future pregame festivities!

Overall I was quite impressed with Quinnipiac's effort last night. I have been cautious to get to excited about the team this year, but they really handled Union for the first 50 minutes of that game. The rest of the game is little fuzzy

Re: 2014-2015 Quinnipiac Bobcats: "I hear Boston is nice in April"

Vince Pedrie has decommitted from Quinnipiac

Is it because he believes there is another team who wants him he'd prefer over Q?

Yes he's having a breakout year in the USHL but he's a 94 birthday meaning he'll prolly be 21 before he ever plays.

Interesting move cause there will be two defenseman openings with Feds and Agosta graduating (Barron is more of a forward now).

Interested to hear if you have any more scoop on it

You guys have a good team this year, very impressing to watch. It all seems to be clicking consistently.

Thank you. I don't think anyone on here is sold completely yet. Lots of ups and downs in play from different units but they have been straightening it out

After this past weekend I'd like to think they're figuring it out and putting it all together at the right time. Too many times in the past the team has peaked too early. Perhaps this season will have them peak at the right time as they approach the post-season.

Awesome read. I find it extremely interesting that 3 of the top 10 are ECAC schools and none of them are Ivies. Great pic of Mr. Peca too! ;)

Another huge weekend for the Bobcats. Keep the pedal to the metal and don't let up.

Re: 2014-2015 Quinnipiac Bobcats: "I hear Boston is nice in April"

Last night was not the outcome they wanted I'm sure. Letting the Warriors score :44 and :13 seconds after us was heartbreaking but the guys stood tall. Anas had one of his best games of the season with his 2 goals and an assist. Gartieg got rocked with what looked like a knee to the head on Merrimack's 2nd goal late in the 1st. He finished out the period but did not return for the 2nd. Lawrence played well in relief. If you take away those 2 quick scores maybe they take the W.

Regroup and come out strong tonight on home ice.

yeah, it is interesting but there are only 3 Ivies worth a dam* in hockey, Yale , Cornell and now this year, again, finally, Harvard. I was surprised Yale wasn't on that list

It was nice to see Anas have a good game. As you said earlier, It's been a while. Aside from the goal right from the face off Lawrence did a good job in Gartieg's absence.
The 2 goals immediately after ours were indeed heartbreaking. Definitely have to step up on D and not let so many costly mistakes cost us games.

Lets hope for a split this weekend.
Hopefully Harvard does the same :)

Any info on Gartieg? Hopefully all is well and he will be back in for tonight.

No info on Garts , and we likely won't hear anything the way Rand keeps everything so close to the vest. My guess is that even if he is ok we won't see him tonight... save him for the stretch run of league play. If he is hurt I hope it's nothing serious because we'll need him at his best the rest of the way.

Re: 2014-2015 Quinnipiac Bobcats: "I hear Boston is nice in April"

Horrible weekend... for whatever reason they just couldn't figure the Warriors out. No sustained pressure offensively and 'mack was skating into our zone at will most of the night. I thought Lawrence played as well as he could.

Toews didn't look good as he was helped off the ice. Looked like a shoulder or possibly a rib injury. That puts a huge dent in our D-corp if he's going to be out for any length of time. Derek Smith hasn't dressed for the last 3 games after getting tweaked against RPI last weekend. Luckily we have next weekend off so maybe the extra weeks helps everyone get healthy.

It's all league play from here on out and every point is important. We took a hit in the Pairwise this weekend but still have some very meaningful games left. Hopefully they can regroup and make a nice run down the stretch.

Re: 2014-2015 Quinnipiac Bobcats: "I hear Boston is nice in April"

Quinnipiac picked up a recruit today in Coquitlam Express defenseman Daniel Fritz. 95 birthday. 6'1 196 lbs

He effectively replaces Vince Pedrie who decommitted.

Re: 2014-2015 Quinnipiac Bobcats: "I hear Boston is nice in April"

Hearing Toews has a separated shoulder. I believe its usually a 6 week recovery. Same thing as JST last year. Im guessing Garteig and D Smith will be back in the lineup next weekend but who knows at this point

Re: 2014-2015 Quinnipiac Bobcats: "I hear Boston is nice in April"

If the rumors are true that would be a huge blow heading down the stretch. Toews has been our best blueliner all season and replacing him won't be easy.

I heard on Saturday night that Garts was fine and will be ready when they play at Brown. No word on D. Smith however.

With the Pairwise tumble we took last weekend, every game matters from here on out. The boys are going to need to play their best hockey... one shift, one period, one game at a time.
