2014-2015 Minnesota State University, Mankato Season Thread: Shipping up to Boston?

Re: 2014-2015 Minnesota State University, Mankato Season Thread: Shipping up to Bosto

And now the season really starts. The first 2 weeks were fun, and although they didn't go as we'd hoped, we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot, either (We have 2 more non-conference road wins than we had all of last year!). Let's hope the boys don't start looking ahead, and take care of business this weekend.

Any word on Knowles or Huntebrinker?

Both out as of yesterday. Huntebrinker might be closer than Knowles, but with how well the Freshman have played, there's no rush, either.

Congrats to Bryce Gervais on WCHA player of the week honors! http://www.wcha.com/men/pres1415/201410/oct27wpm.php

Our guys play the game the right way, but to take the next step as a team, you also need finishers who find the back of the net. Bryce is really developing into a guy who finishes.
He's picked up right where he left off from the last third of last season. He and Letiner really have it going together, too.

I am glad to see the Mavs are beating the teams they are supposed to beat! Need to keep doing that!

I saw that the Mavs have Bauer jerseys now and was wondering if there are any better options for apparel at the game or in the bookstores?
The bookstores literally tell the companies, what is the cheapest logo and design you have and say we will take everyone of them!

I'll work on getting you a way to order something with higher quality. Nice to see you're still alive and well!;)

Excuse me? If I recall most people expected a split. I expected us to sweep but, hey, I'll take the split.

And I will gladly take a split on the road.

Why because you beat Miami once and you swept 2 ****ty teams? I was horribly disappointed when we lost to your Bowling Green team.
Apparently your stay in the old WCHA allowed you to develop their arrogance (and here I thought that all of the arrogance moved to the NCHC, silly me). If I recall, we split last year also, and the score in the playoffs was not indicative of how BG played given the evenness of the SOG. So I'm not sure why you would think that we couldn't possibly play up to your level. You have a good team but it's not the only team in the WCHA that is capable of playing at that level and other teams aren't just going to wilt when your guys hit the ice. At least your coach shows appropriate respect for his opponents.

You realize that to get respect, you need to give respect as well. When you come into another team's thread and start puffing out your chest as you did, you're likely to get a response of the same sort. There is very little arrogance of which you speak as evidenced by the rest of the thread, but if it.makes you feel better to act like a martyr, go ahead and have fun with that. The.rest of us will move along and enjoy the rest of the season.

Most MSU fans remember being overlooked and marginalized by the rest of our state's programs and dont do that to others. Act like a ******, though, and people are likely to respond in kind.

So, how is Mankato's video feed? Does it feed well through WCHA TV (if anyone has tried)?

Looking forward to this weekend's games? The schedule makers didn't do BSU any favors to open the season. North Dakota, Minnesota, Alaska, Mankato, Michigan Tech.......

The coach has to do the song and dance of respect because it is news if they don't.

Last season was your first winning season since 96-97 and haven't been to the tournament since 89-90. Nuff said

I didn't even marginalized them, I said we should beat them because we should. We have more talent.

Re: 2014-2015 Minnesota State University, Mankato Season Thread: Shipping up to Bosto

Chris Clark,

I do not see where BG Fan was rude or disrespectful of your program until you attacked him. He commented that many people expected a split including the two gentleman that pick games for USCHO, one of which writes for a paper in Mankato. Like you, I was disappointed that we did not get a sweep as a goal is always to win at home. However, a split against a good team is what we got. I have noticed arrogance from a few WCHA fans toward our program. I know that you would prefer the old WCHA and I prefer the old CCHA, but it is what it is. BG is not the program of the 90's and 2000's. If you are going to bring up that history, then you also should mention our national title and two Hobey Baker Award winners. I respect Mankato as a program and the few fans that I talked with last weekend were friendly. I will try to judge your fan base by those people and not by you.

Go BG!

Were the Stepan and Margonari Saturday scratches health-related? A desire to get Knowles back in game shape, and get Knutson back on the ice? Disappointment in the 3rd line's performance? A combination of all of those?
When Shane goes to the road games, he's good at getting that info out. The Free Press needs to send him to more games, and maybe spend less money covering the legality of yard sales on Belgrade Avenue
