2014-2015 D1 "GRaNT" Computer Rankings

Re: 2014-2015 D1 "GRaNT" Computer Rankings

I'm not aiming this specifically at you, but at the populace in general -- Why is it that people think that their right to an opinion means they have a right not to have their opinion criticized?
Also, our little banter aside, his opinion was "I looked at it and I don't like it." I'm disappointed that he didn't go into more detail because that's a conversation I'd love to have. So I criticized his criticism.

Is that not okay?

It is for you and BC fans. I'm catching on.

Don't act like you're anything special; Teddy likes to have at it with pretty much everyone here :D
Wasn't thinking of Ted at present. I did think it was funny how quickly things progressed from questioning the integrity and honesty of my posted observation regarding rankings, to the subsequent explanation you endorsed with such enthusiasm. Like I said, I'm still puzzled with a consensus under the circumstances, despite that swell, objective explanation. ;)

I suppose that's one of those more objectionable, unsanctioned criticisms.

Frankly I am too, but that doesn't mean I didn't think his response was pretty funny.

Re: 2014-2015 D1 "GRaNT" Computer Rankings

Biggest difference from KRACH is mine has UMD much lower and BU much higher despite having very similar records -- KRACH has one 6th and one 9th and mine has them reversed.
WCHODR would tend to more closely agree with KRACH. It has UMD 5th and BU 12th. BU is very slightly better offensively; UMD is much better defensively.

BU is very slightly better offensively...
Which is kind of weird given BU's faceplants against some bad teams. You would think that a team that scores more goals would be more likely to handle worse teams more often than a team that's strength is defense which would result in closer games.

Re: 2014-2015 D1 "GRaNT" Computer Rankings

1) "Men" comes before "women" alphabetically
2) More people care about men's hockey

Not my site, I don't care, I just write for them. ;)

you obviously do care, or else your reason would have been "there was no reason for placing them first, just happened that way"
I just thought it odd that a guy that has professed to care about women's hockey would place it second rather than take the opportunity to promote it
but that's OK, you are who you are

You can like or dislike that premise but saying "I'm looking at it and I don't like it" makes you sound a bit uninformed and eager to needlessly criticize and/or troll :)
I never said I didn't like it, that is the way you read it, which says a lot about you
but again, that's not news to anybody

actually I may agree with your ranking, UMD has a hot streak going, but it is against a bunch of nobody's (kinda like a team from out east) and like that team, they will end the season with a tougher schedule, so we'll find out more about them by the end of the year

maybe there is something to feasting on baked goods before undertaking a tougher schedule
or maybe not

Well, that particular "I don't care" was about the ads and whatnot on the site.

I care about men's hockey and women's hockey equally. But most visitors to the site care about men's hockey. I put men's hockey first so it would be more easily accessible to the majority of people who would be searching for the men's information first.

But seriously, why does this matter?

I can't believe I even engaged you with this particular question. I broke my own rule of interacting with you while you were trolling. Why did nobody stop me??

I love these games that you play.

You said looking at the rankings you questioned its validity. How else could that possibly be interpreted other than you not approving of what was being calculated?

And like I said, I would LOVE for you to tell me what you find invalid because it's a discussion that would interest me.
