I reckon so. I also love that the two Mississippi schools are tied for third.

There are two colleges in Mississippi?;)

Actually, there's a couple of them there.

Delta State, Jackson State, Alcorn State, Southern Mississippi, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State off the top of my head, and I bet that there's a few more there as well.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

I don't like that ppl are suddenly picking MN to win games. Too much expectation!

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

If you want free money, bet Florida State and the points vs. Syracuse.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

Conferences have had fines in place for storming the field/court for a number of years now.... Basically it was done to cover their arse should some dumbasses do something stupid to themselves/players/coaches/etc... It gives the conferences the appearance of discouraging such things...

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

I'm sure Iowa got some sort of fine for taking the Metrodome goalposts home in 2002.
I would hope and assume that Iowa voluntarily paid the replacement cost, but I highly doubt the Big Ten levied any fine. My first reaction to the story was "must be an SEC thing." I really can't recall any occasion when the Big Ten did this.

FWIW, when Buckeye fans tore down one set of goalposts at Indiana a number of years ago, the check for replacement costs was on the way in less than 24 hours. In more recent years, I've seen fans rush the field a few times at Ohio Stadium. While the goalposts were aggressively protected, no attempt was made to keep the fans off the field. But there was no league fine in any of these cases, as far as I can recall.

EDIT: No doubt RaceBoarder is correct. But I'm still not recalling any cases where the Big Ten actually exercised this power.
