Apparently that scholarship is quite prestigious. Former golf caddies only, requires you live in the organization's house on campus, and is pretty much a golden ticket to a six-figure job at several major firms fresh out of college.

My brother and sister have it. The Evans Scholarship and the WGA is reviewing the case. He hasn't lost it...yet.

And that didn't scorch your retinas?

No. I don't mind white on black. It's easier on the eyes. Black on white isn't ideal, but when the contrast starts to drop, it becomes harder to read. Light blue on light blue? **** me. My eyes start to bleed.

Rich Rod and the Wildcats upset #2 Oregon. What an awful celebration penalty on the Ducks on 3rd down to extend the game winning touchdown drive.

Adam Jacobi ‏@Adam_Jacobi

Just a reminder that Dave Brandon fired Rich Rodriguez so he could hire Brady Hoke.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

I'm just gonna wait until the committee comes out with their first poll to decide if that loss hurt anything or not. Nobody else knows how they're going to decide everything, and all the "playoff predictions" have just been commentators taking the top six teams and maybe switching one out. Plus, MSU has three committee members that should be pro-green (Osborne and Alvarez from the Big Ten, as well as Willingham who is an alum).

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

The train has left the station; but I still wish that the playoff field was drawn from conference champions, with a limit of one team per conference. What we have instead: One Regular Season Loss=Season Over, Unless Of Course You're From The SEC. So based on last night's result, the media vultures are now gleefully writing off Oregon...

Yeah, I know. Shut up and be grateful for the 4 Team Playoff. Yes, of course it's a major improvement. And yes, my system would cause controversy because every year at least one P5 conference champ would be an odd team out. But it would enhance both the regular season and the conference championship games across the board, IMHO.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

In a perfect world there would be a 12 team playoff. All the conference champs plus two wild cards.

From there, teams are seeded and the bottom four enter the play-in games. Most of the time this will just be the bottom four of the Group of 5 playing eachother to see who gets eviscerated by Alabama and Oregon, but each year at least one will be put into the top 8, and occasionally if there are two Boise/NIU type teams a wild card could get bumped into the play-in round. All games would be played on campus until the semifinals.

The problem is the sports media vultures are convinced in their own correctness. They really do build up their own storm. If this were a balanced environ we'd still have computers involved in the ranking... but that went against the political beliefs (not national politics) of the sports media in regards to what is right and proper.

Instead of reporting and speculating a lot these guys see themselves as the sanctioners and gate-keepers.

So who is your best guess for the Football Four?

I think you mean: we're going to have one loss, so get it out of the way in week 1, then make a mad dash to the championship by winning the rest.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

Whether having one loss or not knocks you out depends on a) how many teams end undefeated and b) how your conference looks. Certainly if 3 teams end undefeated from power conferences, all the one loss teams will fight for one spot. But if we have a 2007 where everyone has a loss, it gets more interesting. Granted as time has gone on, it seems like schedules are done more and more to make sure a conference gets at least one team through undefeated. And as for the conference image, certainly if your from a conference who did well OOC you'll have an easier time than one from a conference that did poorly. That also might help you make it in as the second team from your conference.

That all said, we have to wait for the first committee poll/ranking/whatever. I remember reading about the process, and it's complicated enough it's hard to predict exactly what it will say. All in all, should be a fun ride.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

East Carolina could go undefeated.

That'll be pretty dang impressive given they've already lost to South Carolina.

Marshall, on the other hand, will most likely go undefeated. However, it's one of the weakest schedules I've ever seen.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

Ah I missed that obviously. I thought I read them as 3-0 and now in conference play.
