Charlie Weiss should coach Michigan, with Tim Tebow as the offensive coordinator, and Michael Sam for defense. And Ann Arbor is in a perfect location considering all of ESPN lives in nearby Cleveland now.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

Some interesting discussions going on here...

First, the student newspaper, the Michigan Daily, is demanding Hoke be fired. Not a shocker, if you ask me- and the recent focus on concussions and sport.

But there is an interesting twist on that demand- people are accusing the "Fire Hoke" people of just using this as an excuse to fire Hoke. Not as some indicator that Hoke newly does not care about players, and lets them play injured- as much of last year, Gardner was injured, and he played since he wanted to. I do think they have a point.

And just last night, the AD's office released a statement basically admitting the the problem. But instead of really taking the blame, just called it a misunderstanding and bad communication.

Should be no surprise to this board that many want Brandon gone. I think there's a swell that they can kill two birds with one stone on this case. They may be able to.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

The schadenfreude, it's too much!!!

There's now a petition from the student government on the Michigan website to fire Brandon, as well as a student protest to fire him at 6PM today. Board of Regents are also meeting. A 4 star recruit has just announced he's decomitting, and at least one of the Harbaughs has already said he's not interested in the UM job. And now it's pretty obvious someone is lying, was trying to cover something up, or communication is so inept that none of the coaching staff knew he had a concussion the day after doctors diagnosed him.

How can it be possible to screw up this badly?

It may seem like a lot, but it's only football. Yes, the most visible thing that has a block M on it, but relative to all the rest that has happened on campus, it's actually pretty small. (recent ratings have all schools really strong, the money campaign is actually a year ahead of schedule (which is mind boggling considering the $4B target), the new athletic campus was approved by the board of regents, etc.)

And because of that, it's really easy to focus on. And really easy to complain about.

It's so "bad" now that people are pretending that RR was a great coach. Which is really funny.

Just watching ESPN, they are scheduling the Harbaugh issues in SF one or two stories ahead of Hoke's issues. Hmm... ESPN is pumping up a story, perhaps?

I'm going to go out on a limb and think that Hoke will be gone by this weekend. For him to claim that he had no idea that Morris was that hurt means that he was not paying attention to the game- which is what he is paid to do. If you can't do the #1 objective of your job, well, duh. And Brandon is under enough fire without this that he probably will go soon after that.

The former sucks unless Nussmeir takes over the team (fellow Vandal), and the latter sucks as it may cost a friend who works in the AD department her job.

All of this for entertainment.... :)

As a Michigan fan you'd rather have Brandon fired before they hire a new coach, correct? You don't want Brandon hiring another coach.

They're not likely firing Brandon. It's a Ferentz level bad contract.

The six-year deal is through 2018, and pays him a $5.55 million base, and he can earn up to $1.3 million in deferred compensation through 2018. He gets fringe benefits such as free tickets, use of two cars, a golf club membership, and travel reimbursement for his wife.

Brandon's contract stipulates that if he's fired without cause prior to Jan. 1, 2016, the university must pay him his remaining base salary and his remaining deferred compensation. Firing him after that date reduces the payout to 50 percent of both the remaining base salary and deferred compensation.

I still think Jim Harbaugh flees the impending rebellion in San Fran for Ann Arbor. He'd basically have carte blanche there.

There's a what now? I would love for the Niners to implode but is there any reason to think this is going to happen?

Deion Sanders and Trent Dilfer think so.

So, probably not.

It must be happening. I mean, sources say it's happening. The same sources who said it was happening last year when they started 2-2 and then miraculously disappeared when they got into the playoffs. The same sources who also predicted Harbaugh taking jobs at Kansas, Michigan, and the Dolphins.

How many successful NFL coaches have gone back to college? There's at least four coaches fired a year, and any one of them would love to have him. Harbaugh could just go across the bay to Oakland and coach if he wanted.

"I want to coach in Oakland if I had the choice." --No coach ever

Pretty much, but I was not aware of what bronconick found.

Considering how many alumni like Brandon, I'm not sure how he got such a good deal.

On a different note- I didn't see the play live- did Minnesota get a penalty for that play? We are talking a lot about the Michigan reaction to the play, but there was a player who lead with his helmet into a player's helmet.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

Yep. 15 yards. Still some debate on whether it was helmet or shoulder depending on which shade of yellow you prefer.

Roughing the passer, but not targeting.

Thanks. Not that I expect anything- but are those reviewed after the game?

Back on the other direction- the local news is inverviewing a John Bacon (a prominent writer) and a rep from the office of the president. I expect no new news...

Every team sends a handful of plays into the Big Ten office after every game, and that was one that Michigan sent in.
