Plus, it seems to be more effective to just ignore the lowball taste jokes if you want them to go away. Unless you want a way for other people to irritate you.

If you are the "bigger" people, be that way. Just ignore them. Easy solution.

Nobody will be talking about it on interent forums.

Or... use a deer photo for your avatar. ;)

It's simply trying to get under their skin - and it worked. Kinda like the deer and thinner stuff. I don't know any deer shaggers or thinner drinkers, but it's our cross to bear.

Hey, I agree that the Pedo t-shirts and banners are pretty low on the taste scale. Personally, I wouldn't do it. Fans gonna be fans though.

The good thing that can come out of this is that maybe, just maybe, the next head coach in this situation will realize that a little short term pain and DOING THE RIGHT THING is better than the cover up and long term pain. Doubtful, but just maybe.
It wouldn't have been nearly as big of an issue at this point if 50,000 idiot Pedo State fans didn't go march on their stadium, chanting for the Paterno statue to be put back up just one week ago. That is a pretty big signal that the campus as a whole does think that what they did is OK.

Exactly. PSU was just dumb enough to keep covering the kid rape up for years when they could have quietly swept it under the rug and at least booted Sandusky from their program and just whisper enough to the right people interviewing him for a new football job that he's a kiddie ****er. Back in say the early 90's, they could have pulled that off. Now, with it running as long as it did, they're just going to have to take their lumps for that. Heck, Philly Eagle fans will scream about how that snowballs at Santa Claus incident was ages ago, and the powers that be didn't do much to make the faithful happy that day, but they still hear about how they pelted Santa Claus with snowballs, even if it happened way back in 1968.

Exactly. It's the whole acting like they were some abused downtrodden victim of the whole incident. It's acting like they're suffering as a result; as if the whole point of attending a college was to follow the football team and not, you know, get an education, which last I checked is still there; as if something horrible has been done to them because they don't get to play in a bowl game for a few years and have to watch a mediocre team, or as Washington State calls it, "every year". They are not the victim in the least, their lives were not affected in any remotely meaningful way, so they can perhaps sit back, realize the enormity of what happened, let their team take its lumps for a few years, and go on with the important stuff in their lives.

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

So they are making college football way more important than it should be, just like people do all over this country (and especially in a certain southeastern conference).

Did I just read that right? You think they should have just let Sandusky go and sweep it under the rug? HELLO!!!! Maybe call the ****ing POLICE! How many more kids did he prey on after they ignored it the first time? You're OK with that >0 number?

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

ASU just came out with their 2015 schedule and they head to Houston to take on Texas A&M in the season opener. Nice to see them taking on a tough nonconference opponent on the road, and to kick off the season to boot!

Jameis Winston suspended for 1st half vs Clemson.

For something that probably happens daily at campuses across this country :p

Whoda thunk that a college kid would say something like that :D

Just a couple hours ago I saw a car with the phrase painted on the window at MSU! If FSU loses do they get a pass on this, or would they have to lose 3 games to not get in the playoffs because this one doesn't count?

Cool - shame A&M could only schedule ASU. ;)

(I keed, I keed - ASU looks pretty good this year. Should be a fun season for you!)

Since I'm writing anyway, I need to confess a new affiliation - I'm starting a part-time MBA at UCLA this fall, so I guess I have to cheer for the Bruins to give everyone the business...at least on nights and weekends. :) Good timing to become a UCLA fan!

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

Does that mean you're back in the states now?
Goodness, yes - I haven't set foot in Europe since January 2012. Bounced around a little doing some consulting for a little over a year (free rent in corporate housing ain't all bad), then landed (with a permanent job and everything!) out here in SoCal in April 2013, and just bought a house - more settled than I've been in 10 years. As my wife and I were packing up the apartment to move to our house, we realized that in the 10 years we've been together, we've moved one or both of us 10 times. Hoping we're done for a while!

Re: 2014-2015 College Football Thread: A New Era Begins..

I'm astonished that some of these Pedd State fans/supporters can write the stuff they write. Talk about having their head in the sand.

Speaking of which, they are having a "Joe out" at Beaver Stadium this weekend vs. Umass. You know, now that the NCAA caved in after failing to nuke that program back to the stone age in the first place, that means he was innocent of covering up Sandusky and now we can protest to put his statue up and all dress up like Joe Paterno. Cool, sounds like a plan! If a giant hole opened up and swallowed that campus up, I don't think I would ever be happier.

Hey, how 'bout them Eagles? Yah, football is fun again.
