Agreed. That's pretty pathetic. First they go way too light on the Pedo State sanctions to begin with, and they they decide to drop them completely. Embarrassing.
Georgia Tech (11-0-1) and Colorado (11-1-1) both claim the 1990 title. Polls were split between the two, because Tom Osborne got to cast the deciding vote in the Coaches poll. Nebraska had played both teams that year (losing both games), and he probably didn't want to see a conference rival claim it outright. Also, the Huskers got blown out by GT in the Citrus Bowl, so perhaps he felt the Yellowjackets were a better team and had earned the title. Either way, they "shared" it.
One of Colorado's wins that year was the infamous 'Fifth down' game too.
Colorado was pretty relevant almost a decade after that. In 1995, they had seven of the first 71 picks in the NFL Draft. It's crazy how far they've fallen off the map.
You could easily argue that had Miami beaten OSU in that game, that the official had gifted the Hurricanes. People always forget that the refs called a clear in-bounds first-down catch for the Buckeyes out-of-bounds near the end of regulation. If they get that call right, OSU kills the clock and wins in regulation. I see it as a wash (and I actively dislike the Buckeyes).

Colorado as recently as 1990?! That honestly blows my mind.
Yeah, I was blown away too when I stumbled across it a few years ago. Probably why I remember the details.
I think I hate Penn State more than Michigan now. Their fan base is still touting the same BS narrative that they did nothing wrong and shouldn't have been punished.
I wouldn't be surprised if they're already planning to put the JoePa statue back up.
Just because I was curious, I looked it up. At the end of the play in question there was 2:19 left in regulation and Miami had one timeout left. OSU had to punt from their own 32 instead of having a first down from their own 42. We'll obviously never know what would've happened, but I think it's extremely likely that OSU wins in regulation if that is called correctly, and in the end the team that deserved to win ("deserved" meaning how they played that night, any violations occurring within either program not withstanding) won the game and people often forget blown call #1 that probably led to blown call #2.IIRC, Miami still had some timeouts and there was well over 2 minutes to play at that point in time. The "pass interference" play literally would have ended the game.
They had Heisman winner Rashaan Salaam and ....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Nt6HjqtJt8
I'm sure you get this, but just in case: The 4 way tie I was referring to was for the Big Ten Conference title. In any event, good post; it was fun to remember that there was some parity at the national level as well that year...Georgia Tech (11-0-1) and Colorado (11-1-1) both claim the 1990 title. Was that from today!?!???!
