That game against Iowa stands out as really the only black mark that season. You didn't play the gophers at their best. We absolutely **** the bed. Play that team three weeks later and it's a different game altogether.
I'd call an 11-2 season with a trip to the B1G Title game and one of the big six bowls a special season..or winning the B1G title at 12-1 and going to a big six bowl would be a special season..Is it likely? No. Do I think it will happen? No. If they stay healthy though, with their schedule, they could legitimately be 10-0 heading into their final two games with Wisconsin and Nebraska visiting Iowa City. We also know that in a one game scenario, anything can happen. (ie: Iowa winning the B1G title, which is even more unlikely.)Special isn't the word I would use. Teams that are "special" wouldn't need an easy schedule to get things done. Not trying to come off the wrong way with this, just my $0.02.
I wouldn't be shocked in the slightest to see Iowa in the BTCG but they need help from Sconnie and Nebraska.
1-12 for Georgia State since joining FBS..
So those next three weeks, while the Gophers were improving, the Hawkeyes weren't?It was a physical mismatch along the line of scrimmage, on both sides of the ball. The Gophers offense wasn't any less one-dimensional three weeks later, and they were still as healthy as when they played Iowa. Call it what you want, or however you want to make it feel better, but the Gophers were pushed all around the field for 60 minutes against Iowa.
