2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

Imagine the controversy if this was still a two-team playoff. #1 would be FSU simply because they're undefeated. Then you'd probably have Oregon at #2 with Bama and TCU arguing they deserve a shot at it.

They're likely going to drop out TCU/Baylor for refusing to name a champion and give the regional Sugar Bowl and classic Rose Bowl everyone expects.

I'd imagine it would be Bama at #2. You know, SEC and all. Plus, at the times of the losses, losing at Ole Miss was a better loss than losing to Arizona at home. Then we'd have to hear the whining from the SEC haters.

Don't think the classic Rose Bowl game will be happening unless you think Oregon will leap frog Alabama. Or that they keep Oregon at #2 and move Ohio State ahead of FSU.

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

The committee screwed themselves when they put TCU at #3 and FSU at 4. Now its very hard to say a team like OSU jumped 3 teams and TCU fell 2 spots (and behind FSU) just to move them in to the top 4 after this weekends games.

I just don't see them dropping FSU out, due to being undefeated. I know they say its "4 best" not "4 deserving". But by either metric, FSU should make it. Of the top 6 their difficulty to achieve their record vs their schedule was #2 behind Alabama. So its not like they played Marshalls schedule.

Basically they are forced (by their own doing) to put ALA, ORE, TCU, FSU. Sad.

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

I think they should be #3, but only because I don't want to have to chose between Alabama and Florida St.

Always? This is the first year of the committee and this process...:p

Meaning the way they do polls, BCS, etc, which has been around for years.

nah, haven't you paid attention to this thread? they only played one "good" team.

Top 6 Strength of Schedule Rankings:
Alabama - #2
Oregon - #12
TCU - #10
Baylor - #13
Ohio State - #26
Criminoles - #31 (Playing Georgia Tech bumped CU up about 10 spots)

Against Top 10 Teams:
Baylor - 2-0
Ohio State - 1-0
Oregon - 1-0
Alabama - 1-1
TCU - 1-1
Criminal U - 0-0 (what? They didn't even PLAY a top 10 team? Shocking! :p:D:D)

Top 6 Predictive Rankings: (How likely a team is to win their next game)
Oregon - #1
Alabama - #2
TCU - #3
Baylor - #4
Ohio State - #5
Criminal U - #16 (SIXTEEN!! But...undefeated?)

Top 6 Luck Rankings: (How "lucky" a team was to get the record that they did)
CU - #1
Alabama - #17
Baylor - #28
TCU - #39
Ohio State - #44
Oregon - #54

Again...2014 Criminal U = 2012 Notre Dame. They made the playoff thanks to a relatively weak schedule and a good dose of luck. I'm fine with them making the playoff, as they went undefeated in a Power 5 conference. However, to think that the Criminoles are a top 4 team is ridiculous.

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

Sugar Bowl
#1 Alabama vs. #4 Ohio State

Rose Bowl
#2 Oregon vs. #3 Florida State

Pretty much what everyone thought.

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

Garbage...

TCU wins by 50+ and somehow they get jumped by Baylor and tOSU....

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

Dodging the bullet of the TCU/Baylor argument. Not surprising

Agreed. I really don't think the committee should have rankings at all until the final ranking, especially considering that there are a variety of metrics that the committee doesn't consider until the final ranking.

as someone else mentioned, it was stupid to put TCU ahead of FSU and put them at #3 to begin with if this is what was going to happen. committee ultimately got the top 3 right and i'm not even saying ohio state isn't better than both Baylor and TCU...but last week's rankings were dumb.

To me, you either put the Criminoles at #1 because they went undefeated, or you put them at #4 because CU clearly performed the worst out of the teams in this group. Putting them at #3 is pretty much a joke. If I was stupid enough to still cheer for Crim U, I would be outraged that my team was forced to travel out to the Rose Bowl after going undefeated.

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

Also it's not as much TCU doing something bad to move themselves down as it is OSU having a quality win to move themselves up. Not saying I necessarily agree, but there is some logic to it. And flopping the Baylor-TCU rankings is hard to explain too, though the Big12 does not help themselves with their ambiguity on who they're calling the conference champ.

let me find that ignore feature

Click "Settings" up in the upper right corner.

On the left hand side of the new page, under the My Account heading, there will be an "Edit Ignore List"

You will be able to add whoever you want to ignore. Don't forget the spaces in the user's name that you wish to ignore.

Then proceed to peaceful "hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil" bliss. Enjoy :p:D:D

That's the point for me... The committee proved that they STILL can't get this thing right...

right, again, i'm not even saying Ohio State shouldn't be #4. My problem was last week when they put TCU ahead of FSU. if this thing is gonna be that fluid, then don't have weekly rankings. let people speculate on their own and just release them once, today.
