2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

And Nebraska is delusional.

9 wins per season...not good enough. Amazing.

The big game collapses, particualrly defensively, had to have been maddening, but they did win 9 or more games seven straight years at Nebraska. Nebraska now, not in the '90s. With the way that college football recruiting has changed, as well as the population shift south, one has to think Nebraska is getting pretty greedy here.

However, I don't personally dislike the decision. Iowa has fallen into a severe state of extremely average, and the bar has been right around 7-5 (4-4) minus outliers in 2009 and 2012. Iowa is 10-11 in its last three seasons at home. During Ferentz's best years, they won 26 in a row there. Kirk has done so much for the University of Iowa, as well as a philanthropist in the state of Iowa, and can be truly appreciated for that. However, overstaying your welcome tarnishes that legacy, and I think that's something Kirk Ferentz has to be awfully careful about.

Would I take seven straight 9 win years at Iowa? Yessir. However, for Iowa to be two games over .500 in Big Ten play the last 10 seasons, with a coach who is paid the 9th highest in the country, a brand new Football facility, loyal fans, and the 11th highest revenue in the sport, I'm not okay with Iowa settling for that.

Hopefully the University of Iowa got the harsh wake up call from Nebraska yesterday who basically said, we're not content with being Iowa.

Brady Hoke likely gets clipped tomorrow. 3 PM team meeting, and he's meeting with the AD prior to that.

Mav, Iowa may already be taking notice, but who are the donors who are going to pick up that massive buyout? Iowa football may have a strong following, but there certainly aren't donors lining up to pay his mortgage like at Bama. Ferentz is in the best position in college football. 3.65 million for the next six seasons. Unless he "retires" there's basically no chance of him leaving before the end of 2018, and he'll probably be able to finish out that contract through 2020.

Ruh roh, sounds like there is now video of Gurley signing stuff for the sports dealer in exchange for cash. And the cash exchange is on video as well...

I've heard enough. *spins wheel*...NC State will be punished for this!

Roger Goodell just fined James Harrison $150K.

And UAB has now officially cut the program. Players leaving the meeting with the president in tears.

Never been a fan of the Tide, and this certainly cements that further.

Bryant liked to sign about 200 recruits to keep them from going elsewhere, so being a hoarder runs in the family.

Re: 2014-15 College Football Part II: SEC vs World

Between what happened to UNO's football team when they went full D-I and what's going on with UAB right now, it does seem odd that there are often people associated with the flagship school's program when this happens.

Now it's making me curious to know if UW had anything to do with Wisconsin-Milwaukee dropping their team. According to wikipedia, UWM was formally merged into the unified UW system (under one board of regents) in 1971 and the football team was disbanded in 1974.

What the hell good is Barry on the committee if he doesn't have us poised to jump into a final four spot with a win on Saturday?

UAB Video of the meeting with the President

I hope they do get a bowl bid and decide to accept it, but come out in all white jerseys. No logos or anything UAB related. Make it plainer than Penn State.

Towson baseball did something similar a couple years ago by putting tape over the name on their jerseys.

They should accept it, and hopefully a booster will come up with enough cash to at least get em to the bowl game. More they can keep themselves in the news about it, the worse UA-Tuscaloosa looks in the matter, and hopefully political pressure will mount to reinstate the program, along with a few donations coming from other boosters, likely those from around the SEC who would just want to stick it to Alabama.

This article is how I confirmed they can. Plus, with the new BTN contract about to put $20 million more a year in everyone's pockets, Iowa sure as hell can buy him out. Not to mention what hiring a coach that can raise the level of success again can do for your bank account..
