Hmm, a pretty good 97 forward is missing from that list. Anyone know why? Did 3 kids really outplay her for that spot or are we looking at at-large shenanigans going on here.

Politics maybe. I can't really find an explanation for it. She has the most points on Shattuck St. Mary's U16 team....is committed to the University of Wisconsin and had the second most points at the Select 15 camp last year. She's a solid player.

You touched on a probable reason. Someone may well be thinking At Large for her and "she is committed, lets give another of our players a shot a being seen at the NDC"

Complete embarrassment. USA Hockey needs to get control of these tryouts.

Central District/USA Hockey
2013 National Camp Players

The weekend of March 22-24, the Central District held tryouts opened this year to any registered USA Hockey player. Over 290 players tried out in the 1996-1997 birth years. Listed below by birth year are the players that have accepted an invitation to the 2013 USA Hockey National Development Camp being hosted in St. Cloud, MN. I personally want to thank all players and parents who attended these tryouts. At this time the list only is what the Central District allotment was, any at large player will be notified in mid-May. Please do not call USA Hockey about the at-large allocations, I will be happy to address questions until USA Hockey releases this.

MA District Selections - 1996 class must have performed weakly last year with so few slots allocated.....two forwards in that year that have never been to NDC before - Fusco and Taylor.

There is an undeniable amount of talent coming from the West Section of New York State (14 out of 27 players from Buffalo-Rochester area). With the number of kids from the Buffalo Bisons, NAHA players Ross (Brockport), Lewczyk (Buffalo) and Gerace (Jamestown), you have to wonder if NYSAHA will take a look at this and make more of an effort to develop players from outside the West Section.

So my kid received a letter stating she has been selected as an "at-large" player for National Camp and a decision will be made following a teleconference if she gets to attend. How ofter do these at large postitions get to attend national camp or is it just a feel good letter? My kid is a goalie so this probably complicates selection.
