Because I don't have a detailed mental list. That's a pretty silly request. I know Adam Jones is a thug. I couldn't tell you a single specific thing he's done. Does that prove he's not one?

It's not a silly request, it's requiring some sort of reasoning on your part so we know whether to think that Sherman was onto something with his comments about the real reason some people are calling him a thug.

At least with Pacman Jones you can easily pinpoint a very well publicized incident where he physically assaulted a stripper, then got into it with a security guard (who he then threatened) in an altercation that eventually lead to one of his entourage shooting a gun. If someone called Jones a thug after that, it would make sense.

What did Sherman do to deserve that title? A few instances of on-field taunting? Yelling into a camera during an interview? You can't say exactly, which tells us a lot.

For the record, I didn't even remember that Jones got arrested at a strip club, I didn't remember that there was a gun involved, nor did I remember there was even a security guard that got shot. I just remember there was quite a big off the field incident. Even now after you say that, I don't remember those details.

Congratulations if you remembered all of those details. I don't give a **** about what these idiots do in their free time to commit that to memory.

This debate over Sherman isn't really enough to say one way or another. I'd assume probably not, or at least not consciously. But there's something about Sherman that makes you use the word "Thug" instead of a different term with fewer gangland/violent connotations. If it's not his skin tone, it's the way he uses the English language, or his hair, or his history of trash talking, or something to that effect.

FWIW, I had to look up some of the details. But I think it'd be fair to say that he's probably just as well known (if not moreso) for his exploits that gave him that season-long suspension than he is for his onfield play. It was a pretty big story at the time, and even if you don't remember the details, you'd be likely to remember that it involved violence and a strip club.

What word would you prefer I use? Because IMO, a thug is an adult who uses violence, threats of violence, verbal abuse, bullying, whatever. I'd use the same term to describe a white player who did the same thing. I don't define the word by the color of someone's skin. You can, but I don't. Just off the top of my head, I've used the word thug to describe guys like Putin or even Chris Christie (assuming the allegations are true).

It's you guys who are projecting something that's simply not there.

Between the interview, the throat chop, the taunting at the end of the game, the interview after the game where he doubled down on his prior statements, the fact that he's one of the most penalized players in the NFL this year, he has more taunting penalties than anyone else in the NFL over the past three years.

Does that work? Does that remove the racist label from my name? Or do you still think I'm a racist?

I know I am blocked but what the heck. Yes he was up there in penalties this year, but being a defensive back 5 were for interference and 3 for holding. Also going by this site that I will link at the bottom of my post he has gotten 2 taunting penalties over the past 3 seasons.

See, there again. I didn't even remember the season-long suspension. I didn't remember violence nor did I remember a strip club. I just don't care about the NFL players that much. The only crimes I really remember involving NFL players are the Ray Lewis deal (and I can't remember what the details were, either he killed a guy or someone he knew killed a guy and he got off), Bryant McKinnie where he threw a barricade at a bar or something (and I only remember that because it was hilarious and he has a Vikings connection, he may have even been a Viking at the time), and Plaxico Burress for shooting himself (also hilarious).

And I had to think hard about the third.

Edit: Oh and Jarred Allen's DWIs. Forgot about those until I started thinking hard about NFL crimes.

I don't think anyone has said that referring to someone as a thug must mean he is black. The problem is I and others have said what besides the interview has he done to be considered a thug? He can't come up with anything. I am sorry but a thug is someone that is out doing bad things to people. I missed part of the EoDS comment where he said it was how he used the English language. I completely disagree with what you're insinuating here. That's a complete crap kind of comment especially considering I think he's actually fairly well-spoken when he's not on rageahol. He doesn't appear to be a thug off the field but on the field he's a complete thug.
