The media wants it both ways. They love to complain about belichick - or any other head coach - and the boring press conferences, but the moment someone raises their voice, they complain about that too. It must be nice to try to have it both ways...

You make it seem like it's one or the other. It's not like your only two options are (a) boring, cliche spouting and (b) whatever Sherman thought he was doing.

There are ways to avoid the stock answers to questions without turning it into a cartoonish WWE promo. Well, maybe there aren't so many ways for a chronic trash talker like Sherman, but for the rest of humanity there are.

Thing is, I'm not sure the NFL grasps the concept of the Middle Path. Everyone's either a robot or channeling Roddy Piper circa 1984.

It's certainly his right to do so, but it doesn't change the fact that he came off like an ***.

That he came off like an ***. A lot of people seem to have the "that's what you get for interviewing the guy immediately like that" reaction.

Usually its not a player on the winning team making an ass of himself immediately after a game. Most of the time winners are more gracious, because in the end, they won and it doesn't cost them anything.

Bad enough that he came across like that in the interview - but what really irritated me was the choking motion before the "interview".

Not only that but the choking motion diminishes his own play. If San Francisco choked that means that they failed and what Sherman did on the field was irrelevant.

and calling crabtree sorry and mediocre also diminishes his performance. the guy is an idiot, plain and simple.

Aren't you a Seahawk fan and in Seahawk country? That might explain that. Most people down here in the lower 48 have said they thought he came off like an ***. I even laughed at it. I still thought it made him look like a dbag.

I don't personally care about the choking motion, or that he was chirping Crabtree during the game (they've probably been chirping each other every game), that's just gamesmanship, and he earned it with his play on the field. When the game is over is when the gamesmanship should stop, and the sportsmanship should take over. That didn't happen, and that's what most people have a problem with.

Goodell is considering making the extra point automatic. Two point conversions would function as normal (but you still forfeit the PAT if you fail.)

Sometimes the kick fails, so I disagree with Goodell. Have there been an abundance of injuries during PATs? I don't get why he would do this?

They feel it's so close to automatic, only 5 misses this year in 1261 attempts, that it amounts to just going through the motions and slows the game down.

I saw some background on this on ESPN last night.

Sherman was interviewed, and candidly was pretty contrite. He admitted he may have gone too far. But he did have these interesting comments.

First, he said there is a history with Crabtree. Last spring or summer they were apparently at a charity event and Crabtree started in on Sherman, taunting him, telling him he was going to light him up the next time they play, and trash talking Sherman's skills as a defensive back. Sherman said it almost resulted in a fight between the two men.

Sherman also says he was "mic'd up" during Sunday's game, and that after the play, when we see Sherman go over and pat Crabtree on the backside, and start talking to him in what looks like some clear trash talking, that what he actually did is pat him on the backside, and tell Crabtree "nice game." That's when Crabtree pushed him in the facemask.

Finally, he apparently told the Seattle coaches that he was going to trash Crabtree in the post-game presser, and their response -- Just don't say anything bad about Denver.

I've advocated make them snap the ball from the 25 for the extra point.
