2013 NFL Season. Tebow on the Brady Bunch(en)? Goodell will to all men!

Can't argue with any of those. It certainly makes me wonder how a number of GM's got their jobs.

Alex Smith would have been on that list 2 years ago...Ponder is intelligent, has a decent arm and is mobile enough...if I were him I'd be looking for the right team and coach for my next contract. He may indeed never make it but its not like the Vikes are QB U and he is the only guy who looks terrible in that offense.

Tebow is beyond help, Freeman is likely not going to get much better...but most first round QB's should get a second look if they don't pan out at first place, provided their weakness isn't being unable to comprehend the playbook, drugs or being Jamarcus Russell

If they're going to have a developmental league, they aren't going to put it in Europe. And every attempt at a football development league has failed.
I'm still not sure why they haven't at least tried to come to an agreement with the CFL to use them as a developmental league. It already has a fanbase, and I don't think changing the rules to mirror the NFL will affect it all that much, if at all. Plus, there would probably be at least a few NFL fans that would keep tabs on it...

Including when they tried making NFL Europe or whatever it was called a sort of dual purpose league: American Pro Football and an NFL "minor league."

And it was a complete failure. One of the Brits that they interviewed on KFAN said that the NFL Europa failed because they didn't want to watch some second tier league over there. He thought the NFL would thrive there, as we can see that the London games are very popular, because they're the best of the best. Then he said that was the reason soccer doesn't catch on here, but he just didn't realize that its because we have much better taste in sports here.

Yup. It's been tried at least 3 times over there. The World League (70s), The World League (90s, IIRC), and then Europa. Maybe football people have finally learned their lesson. If the NFL cannot make it work, it ain't gonna work.

Soccer got good things out of too, the MLS Commissioner Don Garber use to run the NFL Europa league.

I hope to God that I wake up and see BREAKING NEWS!!! on ESPN in the morning that Schiano is packing his bags. He has lost complete control/respect/everything from these guys. Good Lord, enough is enough.

The thing is, I think it would work if they put an actual NFL franchise in, say, London. Because it would be the actual NFL. But the logistics of having a team in London are just not feasible, in my opinion.

It wouldn't work. The time difference is too much, IMO.

I agree to a certain extent, but when a QB has been on the field enough to get a sense of their capabilities, you can tell in most cases who has a shot to become a good starting QB.

I have a feeling, though, that the Canadians would object loudly. They have already have a (possibly well-founded) chip on their shoulder about Americanizing of their culture. I also think that NFLing the rules would be a big change, and IMO, kinda sad. I don't watch much CFL football, but when I do I actually like it better. Lot more wide open game. I especially like the multiple people in motion before the snap and the bigger end zone that prevents the D from using the end line as extra defenders.

Yeah, that is what I meant by logistics. You'd have to have an entire conference or division over there, and even still there would be issues with time differences.

You would pretty much have to have another 32 teams over there, and have their champion play ours for the Super Bowl.

You're probably right.

Similar to what there were rumors about the NHL doing for a while.

Yeah, even if you added in an second bye week to the schedule and do a lot of Thursday night games there so that the teams going over there would have long weeks to rest and recover from going over there, it would still be pretty complicated to schedule it out. You would about have to do that just for the London team to host West Coast teams at least.

Think of the London team. They'd have 8 road trips each season. I imagine the league would set it up at 2 games a pop, but still.

Other than a money grab by the NFL, I see no benefit (as a fan) to having teams in Europe. Stupid idea from a fan's perspective.

I still say the best option is expand the NFL schedule to 17 games and have each team play one neutral site game per year. You could have some games in London, Manchester, Berlin, Paris, Madrid, Glasgow, Toronto, Vancouver, Mexico City, hell, maybe even Tokyo? Seems to make sense to me...then teams wouldn't have to give up home games to do it. Time it out so if teams are crossing a pond, they get a bye the following week. Obviously heading to Europe makes more sense because a normal start time (1pm eastern) is perfect for European fans.
