MLB announces suspensions after Sunday's incident in Pittsburgh: Maldonado (5g), Gomez (3g), Snider (2g) & Martin (1g). All fined.
None for Cole? wteff

Cole was jawing but then he was never near the brawl. I guess there is no instigator penalty in baseball.

Maldonado's shot was pretty cheap considering another brewer was already holding on to Snider. Not that I condone any of it.

I'm fine with everything except I think the pirates got off easy. At least there is no real point in suspending Cole since he's a SP, so it doesn't really matter but none of this happens if he keeps his cool and just walks back to the mound.

I agree. Although some might say if Gomez didn't bat flip and admire a non HR none of this happens either.

Really if Cole didn't like it he should have hit him next time up.

I'm just getting sick of the attitude that players can't show emotion when doing something well (even when they screw up and its not a homerun)...

I think Snider should've gotten a little more. Hard to suspend Cole when he didn't physically do anything, and it isn't against the rules to yell at someone. Gomez didn't have to react that way - but neither did Snider, and Snider getting involved is where it really escalated.

Really if Cole didn't like it he should have hit him next time up.

WGN's production truck caught some footage of what happened and tried to piece it together: Apparently Braun was on one of the steps in the dugout swinging a bat stretching for an at-bat and Segura came up behind him mid-swing.

I was flipping between the Crew and the playoff games and as our offense continued to look like they'd never get anything done - ESPECIALLY Davis - I forgot the Brewers were still playing.

I saw it through the 11th and then about midnight I'm like, oh yeah, forgot about the Brewers.

Had a chuckle when I saw how it ended and who got the RBIs as I was yelling at him through the TV progressively more as the night went on.
