2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

I don't want to alarm anyone, but... the Brewers got some hits with runners in scoring position last night. :p

Just got this email from the brewers:

Dear Brewers Fans:

This past week has been an admittedly difficult time for everyone who loves the Milwaukee Brewers, including our fans, our corporate and community partners, and employees. We share your frustration and disappointment with the news of Ryan Braun's suspension and the mistakes that Ryan has made. We want you to know that we take this matter very seriously.

We recognize that Ryan has many steps ahead of him to regain your trust and respect. This process will take time, and the road to redemption for Ryan will not be easy. Our responsibility as an organization is to help Ryan appreciate the difficult task ahead of him and to assist in the healing process. At the same time, during this frustrating season, we want to reaffirm what the Brewers stand for as an organization. We believe everyone at the Brewers is accountable to each of you every day, and it is a team effort to meet that responsibility. We have an obligation to ensure that our players give maximum effort at all times. We also remain committed to providing you with the best experience at Miller Park. And we appreciate the tremendous loyalty and support you continue to demonstrate to the team. We never take your passion and our strong relationship with you for granted.

Starting this week, we will be introducing a series of initiatives to reaffirm our commitment to you and all of our fans throughout Wisconsin. We know that these initiatives are not a substitute for success on the field, and our primary mission remains to have a perennially competitive team. As we have previously stated, no single player defines the Milwaukee Brewers, and the success or failure of our organization is not tied to the performance or behavior of any single player. Within the clubhouse walls reside many talented players who will be the centerpieces of what we hope are the next great Milwaukee Brewers teams. This abiding belief is reflected on the cover of our 2013 Media Guide where six players are pictured. We have always maintained that any success the team experiences on the field is not possible without our fans, and we ask you to continue to be a part of the success of our organization.

We deeply appreciate your loyalty, patience, and understanding. On behalf of the entire Brewers organization, you have my pledge that we will overcome these current challenges, and we will reward the best fans in baseball with a team that truly represents our community.

Go Brewers!

Yo to the 15-day DL. That leaves us with the non-fear inducing quintet of Lohse, Peralta, Gorzalanny, Thornburg, and Hand. Raise your hand if you had that at the start of the season. Estrada supposedly needs a couple minor league starts before he could come back.

from jsonline :D

Roenicke was asked if playing Lucroy at first made him nervous.

"Not any more nervous than some of the other guys," he said.

oh, I think they're fear-inducing. Just not to opponents. Given my initial feelings about the Lohse signing, I'm not sure I even had him in the rotation at this point. :) He's been the most solid one.

Latest Yahoo Sports article now claims that Braun called the sample collector in 2011 a "Cubs fan and anti-Semite."

*facepalm*

How is this news, now? It seems like the collector enjoys having his name continually tied to Braun.

What a circus.

I think today is too soon for him to talk. No one is going to believe a word he says. I need a little more time before I'm less ****ed off. This is only going to make it worse, especially with these little tidbits the last few days. Lying to the fans? A lot of guys do that... maybe not as vociferously as he did. But blatantly lying to his teammates, friends and bosses? There's not much he can say that would make that acceptable.

It would be nice if people would rather talk about the game on the field... but that's not particularly fun right now, either. :p

I agree with everything you said.

Moving on: other than yesterdays stinker, this team has been okay to watch... baserunning gaffes and brain fart fielding aside. The potential is there. But I'm pretty sure I said the same things last year, and look how this season turned out. :o

There doesn't seem to be any quit to the team, which is a miracle considering how cursed they seemed to be the past two seasons.

I will consider this season a success from this point on if we can ruin it for the Cardinals. :D It's looking unlikely at this point, unless Arizona steps it up.

and I just checked the standings... the Brewers are not in last place!!!!

Speaking of 'ruining it for the Cardinals':

Brewers trade Axford to Cardinals

Big series coming up!!!!! Battle for the Basement. :p

Who is going to play first base next year? And second, for that matter? And where does Khris Davis fit in once Braun returns?

Who knows what they're going to do at first base? Resign Hart and his two bad knees? Hope Gamel doesn't tear his ACL again? Francisco can't really seem to hit a beach ball right now. Yuni B is Yuni B. Lucroy's been okay but that means Maldonado and his terrible hitting in the lineup. Halton doesn't seem like much. Hunter Morris hit a lot of homers in AA, but hit .247 and he's not currently on the 40 man roster which suggests the Brewers would be okay if someone took him off their hands.

At 2nd, I'm okay with a strict R/L platoon with Weeks and Scooter. That way, Rickie can't swing at all those sliders that land in the other batter's box. At least I don't think he can.
