2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

More of the same. Facing Cliff Lee tonight.

I liked this line from jsonline's article today:

The one redeeming quality with this team is the bullpen, but it is almost like having a $5,000 stereo in a $500 car.

how 'bout that starting pitching???? :D

Just when you start to think that no other team in baseball can be playing as poorly as the Brewers... they play the Marlins. ;) Cubs are in last place again.

Braun's hand is still hurt - he said it hasn't really gotten better, even with the time off.

Melvin says <a href="http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/211398271.html">Corey Hart is likely out until the All Star break</a>. Blog also mentions he may be trade bait, as he is in the last year of his contract - but probably not if he doesn't come back quickly.

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

I realized I've posted 5 times in a row with no replies and nobody cares, but.. it's the racing sausages' 20th birthday today. :) Has it really been 20 years? Wow.

And Corey Hart might be done for the year because his OTHER knee is bothering him. Estrada had a setback. Hellweg is starting on Friday. Scooter was sent down and Sean Halton called up. Who needs Scooter when Rickie hit over .400 in June?

And this just in: the Brewers still kind of suck most of the time.

Who are they going to trade at the deadline? I figure K-Rod is pretty much gone. Michael Hunt suggested they trade Yo. Not sure I like that.

I'm still following the team and watch the games but it's difficult to be enthusiastic. They feel like they are stuck in a rut and aren't going anywhere. Everybody seems to be hurt. Braun's situation. Yada yada yada. At this point I don't miss Hart.

Ditto.

I really hope Yo isn't traded. I'd like to keep talent like that for years instead of contant churn through potential talent.

here's the article on Yo I referenced: <a href="http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/gallardo-must-go-for-brewers-to-properly-retool-for-future-b9940558z1-212864841.html">Yo must go</a>

The Brewers KIND OF suck?? What would you consider really sick then?

So the Brewers beat Strasburg and the Nats.... but Peralta is injured. sigh. Gomez and Segura didn't start because they need rest. Braun probably not back until after the break. In the middle of 20 in a row. The All Star Break can't come soon enough.

The end of the season can't come soon enough. :p

Trade rumors involving <a href="http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/trade-rumors-include-4-brewers-pitchers-b9948013z1-214334301.html">Yo, K-Rod, Axford and Henderson</a>.

I think that trade may be OK if they get about 7 good-to-very-good pitching prospects for them. :p

I'd be okay with the last three, but still not sold on moving Yo. Unless we were guaranteed to re-sign him when he hits the market. ;)

*tunes into MLB.tv*

*sees score midway through third inning...*

I take back what I said. Blow up the whole bullpen and start from scratch.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Brewers&src=hash">#Brewers</a> manager Ron Roenicke admitted before game that sometimes his team is hard to watch. Welp, it's been nice knowing Roenicke. Pretty sure this means the Brewers will have a new skipper next spring.

Well, the family and I are in Brookfield and will be at tonight's game. They've never been to a MLB game and I haven't been to a Brewer game since '97. First trip to Miller Park. The Brew Crew are 0-4 in my previous times in attendance. So my expectations for the game are low. Just going to enjoy the experience at the ballpark.

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

I'm not sure what to do with this team. I knew from the outset that the starting rotation wouldn't hold up to the rigors of a full major league season, though I didn't think they would fall apart this fast. Injuries on offense have played a role too, but they still seem to be scoring a decent amount of runs more often than not (the spate of recent 2-1 losses aside). If anything, I'd argue that Melvin needs to go for fraudulently selling us this starting rotation. Then again, there's only so much he can do with our budget. I guess just wait for everyone to get healthy and try again next year. At least we'll have a decent draft pick.

I agree, I think we all knew the rotation would struggle - but I also didn't think it was going to be THIS bad - and that it would be ALL of them.

The offense hasn't been that bad, especially considering the number of injuries. They're pretty much set for the next few years at every position, except, potentially, first base (re-sign Hart? let him go? obviously they can't trade him now) They'll need a new third baseman eventually, but they really need to focus on developing some pitching for the future. I'm not sure the answer is trading Yo - but I guess it depends what we get for him. I don't see anyone in the bullpen that's worth keeping, long-term (even though they've been good), so if they trade a bunch of them, so be it. But Yo was supposed to be the guy to anchor the entire staff.

I have faith in Doug Melvin. There wasn't a lot to work with to improve the starting rotation - they did the one thing they could do in getting Lohse.

my mom commented that if Braun ends up being suspended.. it's not a bad year for it to happen.

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

Plays like the one Carlos Gomez made last night to end the game are why I keep watching.

Braun expected to start tonight.

Re: 2013 Milwaukee Brewers - Cheaters, Underachievers and Disappointments Oh My!

WOW!! What an exciting finish and a great time had by all. Plus I improve my record to 1-4 when in attendance at a Brewer game. Just might have to come back some day.
